It seems like a lot of people this year really didn’t finalize their showcases until late in the ballgame. Because of that, I’m living under an avalanche of recently sent day show announcements.
This thread is for people to post information about showcases. NO DISCUSSION, WE MEAN IT. Just post showcase stuff in the comments.

Ok found another of the “special guests” The BBC BBC Radio 2 special guest is Razorlight http://www.myspace.com/razorlight
http://2007.sxsw.com/music/showcases/band/999993.html
im detecting a pattern this year. none of the special guests i’ve found are playing that show only. all of them have at least one other showcase show. which means alas probably no flaming lips type special guest this year.

SHOWCASE ARTISTS:
French-born NAIM AMOR plays avant-pop songs in the vein of Serge Gainsbourg. His latest album, “Sanguine” (due out this spring in Europe on Universal/Atmosphérique) was produced by Joey Burns of Calexico, for which he played guitar on “Garden Ruin” among other collaborations (album “ABBC” Amor Belhom Duo/Calexico). His previous, “Mistake Love”, was produced by John Parish.
http://www.myspace.com/naimamor
MARIANNE DISSARD performs similar songs, though one would more imagine a sultry Nico singing in a French cafe. She has also worked with Calexico, dueting on the single “Ballad of Cable Hogue”, and her upcoming first album is co-written and produced by Calexico’s Joey Burns. She has written lyrics for Naïm Amor, Françoiz Breut, Amor Belhom Duo and Howe Gelb.
http://www.myspace.com/mariannedissard
SALVADOR DURAN is a Mexican-born flamenco guitarist. He can be heard on the title track to the new Iron and Wine/Calexico CD “In the Reins” and has toured with both bands worldwide. A mesmerizing live performer, he comes equipped with his acoustic guitar, wooden stomping box, harmonica and gorgeously resonant voice. The sleeper hit of this past Lollapalooza fest with Calexico!
http://www.myspace.com/salvadorduran2007
VICKI BROWN , an NPR Featured New Artist, plays the violin and uses loops to create beautiful sonic landscapes, not unlike Andrew Bird or Final Fantasy. She’s performed with DeVotchKa and countless local bands and will already be playing at SXSW with Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter in the No Depression tent .
http://www.myspace.com/vickibrown
ANDREW COLLBERG was recently voted ‘Best New Artist’ by the Tucson Weekly. Described as a “pop-phenom” and “prodigy”, his music appeals to a broad audience. His band recently opened for the Violent Femmes and got a huge response to their Beatlesque pop numbers. His debut release, despite being recorded in his living room, is probably the most major-label-potential CD Tucson has ever seen.
http://www.myspace.com/andrewcollberg
WILL ELLIOTT scored the Weekly’s Best Singer-Songwriter award last year after only being on the scene for a few months. His wry lyrics and vocals have brought comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Harry Nillsen and is finishing up his second album, which is being produced by Collberg.

Join us on March 15th thru 17th, as Bayou Logic presents Rock the Sandbox, a non-sanctioned SXSW showcase held at Aussie’s Volleybar & Grill (www.aussiesbar.com) ! No volleyball this weekend. The nets are coming down. Throw a blanket and lawn chair in the sand; relax in an outside musical playground while 31 bands rock the nights away. This eclectic line-up will tickle the hair in anyone’s ear.
Aussie’s is located at the corner of Barton Springs Rd. and Riverside Dr., and parking is available on both sides of the volleyball courts, with rumors of a free parking garage across the street on Riverside. The initial show of the new series, broadcast on Saturday, featured a kissogram, a naked Physician along with a “sexed up” Tardis.During the unique 65-minute episode, The Eleventh Hour, in which Physician Who had 20 minutes to save Earth from aliens identified as the Atraxi, his new companion, Amy Pond, was revealed as a kissogram dressed in a skimpy policeman’s outfit, complete with mini-skirt and handcuffs. In one scene, Amy, played by the actress Karen Gillan, told the Doctor that her kissogram repertoire also included nuns and nurses’ outfits. Locate out extra at Sci Fi Fan.
