Highlights of SXSW Day 2

I started off the day with breakfast tacos at “The Fort,” the Fader/Levi’s party, where they previewed the new Queens Of The Stone Age album. We hoped for an appearance but it didn’t happen.

Another great band I had never heard of, Grand Ole Party, started off the Filter magazine party at Cedar Street. They’re from San Diego and blew me away. Be sure to check them out.

Also great today:

Great Northern
@ the Filter party
The Prairie Cartel (again) @ the Belmont
Buddy @ The Parish
Pale @ a parking lot on 5th @ San Jacinto

Mute Math had a crowd even outside their show at the Dirty Dog, but it was 120 Days @ Flamingo Cantina that stood out the most on Thursday. They are a impressive live band and really got the crowd into their spacey electro-pop. Check out one of their videos. See a live performance on YouTube.
