This was the 4th time I’ve seen Wilco, and just nudges out the first time I saw them at the Wexner in 2005 as the best Wilco show I’ve seen. The other two shows being the recent show in Cincinnati and Coachella in 2005.

In a few words, they had the dial on 11.

It was fantastic hearing a load of songs I had not heard live before.

Glenn especially was on point with his drumming and really stood out to me.

Anderw Bird, one of the best opening acts I can recall in recent memory. I have a few of his albums but they don’t come close to doing him justice. He was like Jeff Buckley on steroids. Amazing stuff.

It would have been 10/10 for me except for a few idiotic girls who were more interested in talking and texting their retarded friends instead which removed me from the experience a few times throughout the night. Oh well.

    9/10

Agreed. Excellent show. My 5th or 6th time seeing Wilco, and I never leave disappointed. My first show at the Mershon (9th row), and honestly wasn’t impressed with the acoustics, which I assumed would be quite impressive.

I am going tonight to the show at the Fox Theater in Detroit. I cannot wait. I love Andrew Bird’s music and got tickets based solely on the opening act. I’ve been listening to Wilco and have grown to really like them. Horray for new quality musician discoveries.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t at the show. The last Andrew Bird song “Keep Your Lamps…” is most likely an old American spiritual (I saw the question mark). It’s also an been recorded many times as a blues version. That’s my best guess without actually hearing it. Hope that helps. My years of church choir singing have finally paid off in esoteric indie knowledge!

    PS - Great pics!
