Amazon Selling Vinyl? Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Vinyl Reissued? Question Marks?

Okay, here’s two things I didn’t know today.

1. Amazon.com is selling vinyl records. Say what? Makes sense, considering lots of people are moving away from CD, but still this totally went under my radar.

2. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is reissued on vinyl? Say whaaaaaa? But I can’t seem to find any info on the web. Help me out, people.

Both of these things learned thanks to Each Note Secore.

  1. I noticed the first the other day when googling a soon-to-be-released vinyl-only album on mego and an amazon pre-order page was one of the first hits. Nice that labels will have one more outlet, and maybe one more incentive, for vinyl.

  2. shmoopatties

You can get really cheap older vinyl at:

    http://www.oldies.com/format-view/vinyl.html

Odd selection, mainly 7″, but worth a look!

  3. Amazon has been selling vinyl for a bit now, the recently added a section just for it, but sellers have offered vinyl before.

Whats really going to pickle your cucumber is that Best Buy is offering vinyl online now and in select stores, so is Circuit city.

Also saw an article about one of Krogers stores (owned by kroger, not the grocery store) that by mistake purchase some vinyl, said weird ok lets sell it, then it sold so they keep buying ti!

  4. And you can pre-order the Wilco LP at Insound, it says Nonesuch however no word on the labels page about this. Aurialexploits.com is also selling a German pressing, same label, may or may not be new.

  5. The vinyl I have bought new at Amazon arrived damaged. Well, the packaging anyway…

    Just an FYI.

But they’ve been selling it for quite a while.
