as my current clique centers around a four year old little girl who would be aghast that someone she knows goes around duping others from his strange long-lost drunken powers.

I love to be insulted by someone who doesn't leave a full name.
-I suppose that what message boards are for.
Bela

Also insightful as I put my own money behind every band you mentioned, as is someone can't have disparate tastes and Ron House (TJSA) wrote an front page story for The Other Paper attesting to how brilliant Greenhorn was.

Please, disagree but don't insult me personally, you have no idea about my life and what my "clique" is.

Whoa. No way. I must have missed this tidbit of insanity when he first wrote it: [referring to GAUNT, NBT and TJSA

"...none of them could hold a candle to the utter force of Greenhorn".

Ugh. Greenhorn - THE most generic of all - the sheer blasting blandness of it all. You've got to be fucking kidding.

Bela, is this a recurring condition - where your drunkenness of the time continues to slant your still stunted perceptions today?

Yeah, OK they were loud but they
were.
just.
not.
that.
interesting.

Real lyrical powerhouses tho: "Cuz (s)appiness is precious"

Gotta love ya though, Bela, you still think the world began & ended wherever your cliquish self-serving drunkard scrapbook happened to begin and end. Pathetic that so many dupes agree.

From the alcohol fog that blurs most of my memory of living in Columbus from 92 to 95, those Greenhorn shows shine through brilliantly. Every show was huge and glorious - it seems like they were at Stache's at least twice a month. I lived a block away and it would be worthwhile to go watch them shred the headliner for the evening. For their own shows, as Bela says, all the local musicians in attendance made it a great social scene - until Greenhorn started to play. Pure volume and power focused all attention and energy on the band. Fuck yeah. Nice article, Bela.

very few people actually get to meet their musical idols. even fewer get the chance to create or play music with them.

i would agree with Hoover. i will NEVER forget about hearing about Greenhorn and then seeing the guys at Stache's one nigh in November of 1995 or 1996. at that point in my life i had only seen a rock concert in an arena or at an outdoor venue... never in a club. i was absolutely blown away. and then, less than 5 years later we were sharing a stage with them! it was surreal... and quite honestly, it still is... even after knowing all the guys for so long. it still makes me nervous to play with them.

I cut my teeth on these Greenhorn. I can remember being blown away countless times at Stache's and the like as Pat set up his drums at the edge of the stage and Steve brought the thunder behind him and Mark killing his guitar with various objects like broken drum sticks and beer bottles. AMAZING band who really carved out a big part of what is now Columbus's sound.
