Tuesday: The Lemonheads @ The Basement

Evan Dando’s on a nostalgia kick and we’re all invited to come on and feel The Lemonheads Tuesday night as Dando and company play It’s a Shame About Ray in it’s entirety at The Basement.

It’s crazy to think that this album, which most of us first discovered due to the (tacked on after original pressing) cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson”, will turn 20 years old in June. While the years immediately following It’s a Shame About Ray were good for the poster boy for alterna-slacker-rock, by the end of the ’90s, Dando’s substance abuse problems had spiraled out of control and the Lemonheads were put on ice between 1998 and 2004.

Dando’s live track record in the past 5 years has been spotty, but word on the street is that this recent run of shows have gone off without a hitch and that Dando’s in fine form. If you went a sneak preview of the potential setlist for the Columbus show, check out the songs the Lemonheads performed in Tennessee on March 3.

The Lemonheads, with special guest Meredith Sheldon, perform Tuesday, March 6 at The Basement. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are $15.
