Black Owls perform on the AliveOne stage at 1:30pm on Sunday, July 15

Black Owls is a Granville,Ohio-based four piece self-described as “a masterful slice of booze-fueled super rock showcasing ironic proclivity to meld the majestic with the pitifully ordinary.”

What does "bunbury" mean? (No cheating; give it your best guess)

Isn’t bunbury a term for an excuse. To get out of something you don’t want to do or some such thing. Like you’d rather be doing something else?

What are 3 things that you know about Cincinnati?

The Reds have won 5 world series. It has some of the most impressive Italianate architecture in the USA (we play in the OTR and it’s everywhere). It was a stockade of supplies for the Union armies in the Civil War.

Write a Twitter-style (140 character) description of your band

Booze-fueled Mennonite Glam Rock.

There’s a lot of great bands performing at Bunbury, give a sales pitch about why people should come watch your band during the time slot you’re playing?

Our set never lingers. We are here to entertain, not amuse. Rock and roll is a calling, and a gift. If you didn’t want to shake your ass, you probably wouldn’t be here. So go ahead. Our songs are entirely about, and dedicated, to you.

What do you think of the fact that Jane’s Addiction is headlining one of the nights of this festival but is not appearing at Lollapalooza this year?

Their audience is getting more selective. (That’s a Spinal Tap joke for the unwashed). We really think it’s scheduling and commitment. Who the hell knows?

What band is missing from this lineup that you’d love to share a bill with?

Flaming Lips. Why? We played with them at Nelsonville and we’re playing with them at NXNE. Just seems like we should play every damn festival with them. AND they’re very nice guys.

Will you have the opportunity to check out any other bands and, if so, who are you looking forward to seeing?

Yes. GUIDED BY (fucking) VOICES! We’re VERY honored and flattered and proud to be playing with our Oho bretheren.
