Hey there.
I do have the same name as Ringo Starr's song. His name is indeed Zak Starkey. I don't know what his middle name is.
However, I am in no way shape or form related to Ringo Starr. I wish I was...perhaps he would give me some money.
I was not named after Ringo's son. My parents named me Zachery because, in 1982, Zachery was not a very common name. Also, traditionally, Zachery is spelled ZachAry, my parents purposely spelled Zachery with an E. They said they didn't know anyone else who spelled Zachery with an E.
I did not hear of Zak Starkey the drummer until 1996. I was a huge WHO fan when I was 14. I was listenting to a radio interview with Pete Townshend, and he mentioned that the Who were getting ready to tour with "Zak Starkey on drums." I flipped out! Who was the drummer Zak Starkey? I then found out all about Ringo's son.
In a funny coincidence, my Father is also a drummer. He has played in various rock, funk, jazz, and cover bands here in Columbus over the years. He is very good. Been playing since he was 13. My Dad's name is Steve, and he is 43 years old. He doesn't like the Beatles to much, he prefers the Who, as do I.
Another fun fact is that my grandfather, David Starkey, built the KenStar Pharmacy in downtown Grove City. The Star in KenStar is for Starkey. He built the Pharmacy in the late 1960's and sold it in the early 1980s. However, the Pharmacy is still called KenStar, and it is still operational today.
My Grandma Starkey was also one of the Grove City residents who started the Grove City Arts in the Alley Art Festival. My Grandfather was also a long standing member of the Grove City Chamber of Commerce in the 1950;s, 60's, and early 70's.
