Got my Freshman biology teacher fired for bringing God into the classroom, but got myself expelled and almost charged with assault in the process. A couple years later I ran into her on the street and she was working with horses for a living and she thanked me. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

I love when so-called biology teachers compare non-replicating/mating objects like Legos™ or watches or paintings to creatures which mate/replicate and mutate.

I wonder if the fundamentalist Young Earth Creationists would like it if non-Christian scientists started showing up at their churches and demanded equal time to "teach the controversy."

There's a couple ways if you really put your mind to. Here's a couple:

1.) Legalize all drugs and then tax them.
2.) Put a tariff on luxury items.

I'm a teacher, in my first decade of teaching, and I make nearly 60k. My district pays above the average, though.

This kind of thing goes on all the time, in little ways, everyday in schools. I once heard a guidance counselor tell a young teen that the reason he was misbehaving was because he "hadn't found Jesus yet." And I've been surprised to find out that many many teachers are diehard religious conservatives (I'd always assumed they were crazy liberals). Math teachers especially tend to be evangelizing Christians and creationists.

My students often talk about religion and often ask me about my religious views. So it comes up even if you don't bring it up. I always try to be fair in the discussions and always opt out of sharing my views, but when pressed, I tell them I'm an atheist and it doesn't freak them out.

Also, legos can't contruct themselves=proof that Jesus is the son of God.

I don't think it's the low pay, I think it's the opportunity to preach to an audience of young people who may not be able to fully understand or grasp what they're being told.

Furthermore, several teachers I know don't really complain about the pay - in fact, some of them have told me that it's pretty damn good, especially considering they have summers off. In fact, they make a decent amount more than I do.

And even were the pay of teachers somehow raised - despite everyone getting stingy in the voting booth - would that necessarily attract better teachers or just people who want more money but want summers off?

i think it's pretty fucking obvious that the Earth was created by intelligent design.
