I would love a paid parking attendant parking lot for this space. I live 38 steps from Ravari.

I totally don't understand what's going on here. How is more parking in that lot bad? Because more people will come? You'd rather get rid of the parking lot completely so that less people would come out and then the businesses would shut down and there would be lots of nice abandoned buildings? Cuz that would TOTALLY make the property values soar...[/i]

blammo, Cookie, Spliney: Thanks for taking this seriously. That's why I made a big deal about it. Noone was. I'm looking for suggestions. I acknowledge yours. My central point has been that a parking lot will not improve the situation any more than a bandaid will cure cancer.

Corgirl: most people who come to the businesses you seem to be so affectionate toward are assholes. You don't know them, wouldn't like them, and will surprise you with how quickly they will do you wrong. Not all businesses are good businesses. If you have spent any time in this area at night you should know that it is bad for the area, other responsible businesses, and non-asshole people/families who live there, and ultimately you. Is regulating the number of businesses in one small area who cater to assholes a bad thing?

I see that you are pro-business but I promise you that if Mianis or Ledos closed, those buildings would not remain abandoned for long. I have no interest in killing those businesses, I just want them to stop being assholes. And, I assure you, they are being assholes. They don't have a solitary thought about anyone but themselves. Don't you want a responsible, respectful treatment of homeowners, renters, families, businesses, pacifists walking down the street, artists, musicians, poor people, rich people, trees, grass lots, yourself, me....?

Why would you support assholes? A parking lot will not change much at all. Duncan is in the process of becoming permit only. They will park somewhere else (in front of your house? Prolly not). If they park in a parking lot behind Ravari, they will still be assholes. People will still gwet pissed on, beat up, people will still get raped, killed, abducted, woken up at 3 am, 2 am, 1 am, midnite, 11 pm, 10 pm, disturbed at dinnertime, cars will still get robbed, damaged, pissed on, you/I still won't feel safe walking around that area....
And, a potential greenspace will be lost. And, assholes will make a pile of cash to enjoy on themselves, not the 'community' you seem to imagine they 'support'.

What don't you understand? Is this something you want to support? Maybe I don't understand business as usual.

How bout getting a few cops to patrol the area? Public urination is a crime and I bet if they started handing out citations left and right that might deter that behavior.
