anyone ever heard of this place? apparently it's an ad agency on Marconi & I have an interview there tomorrow to do some freelance graphic design. BUT due to some brief internet research I have a suspicion that it's a republican-themed agency. I can't find a website, but I did see a listing for them in a directory that had an american flag logo and an elephant.

anyone know anything they'd like to share? I'd just like to know before I go in there…I'm unemployed but even I have my standards.

Maybe I'll get to design abortion plane banners!!!

WOW. Just got back from the interview.

First thing I noticed was the framed copy of the Dispatch w/ the headline "BUSH WINS!"

My interview was in the "Gipper" room, furnished with all things Reagan…except for a large vintage Nixon campaign poster. They do exclusively Republican campaign design. Flyers, handbills, booklets, brochures…tons of stuff. They've been around since the mid-90's & have never had to advertise or have a website. They make tons of money and have tons of work for freelance designers.

Why couldn't this have been the Democratic party??? My girlfriend marched in the RWB parade carrying a sign for Sherrod Brown & they gave everyone a T-shirt. Then after the parade…they demanded she turn in her sweaty T-shirt. She didn't even get to keep it. I guess Republicans are usually just wealthier by nature.

I wished so bad my camera had photographic capabilties. I felt like Stephen Colbert or George Plimpton.

I suppose I could integrate tiny photographs of Bush as the anti-christ into all my designs…and then feature blow-ups of the offending pieces in some sort of exhibition.

Well, what the hell. I might do some work if they call me and I don't have anything else going on. They asked me my rate though and after I told them, they said "we generally pay people less than that" and I just shrugged my shoulders. So…we'll see.

I asked them about what kind of budgets they have for individual projects…like money for photography, design, final art, printing, etc. She laughed and said "It's not like that…not like commercial work where you have a "budget"…apparently there's just a huge stack of money and the "party" decides how to divvy it up between the candidates until it's all gone…except that it's never all gone. Crazy.

I promise to slip something subversive in if I do any work though. Worst thing that happens is I get blackballed by the Republican party which isn't so bad. I'm a registered Libertarian anyway. haha
