Australian Circuit Benders Toydeath are headed to Columbus! Join them at the Milo Arts Center (617 E. 3rd Avenue, Columbus OH 43201) on Thursday, Feb 17th with circuit bending garage rockers CMKT 4 and experimental electronica/improv band Hearts of Palm. Tickets are $5. Doors open at 8pm. For full tour information, visit the getlofi.com site.

Who is Toydeath? Part performance and part music conjured from a tortured treasure-trove of modified toys including guitars, talking dolls and alphabet apples, they are a cult circuit bending band that re-appropriates children’s electronic toys and dresses up as Big Judy, Gi Joe and Super Dad to create a unique stage show.

Get ready for a hyperactive hootenanny as they unleash the contents of a toybox any six-year old would kill for!

About CMKT 4: This circuit-bent/garage rock trio CMKT 4 hail from DeKalb, IL. Their band is comprised of the holy trinity of rock, guitar-bass-drums, that has been slathered with a nice dollop of synthesizer and circuit-bent toy textures. Their music is comprised of straightforward anthems and crunchy, bluesy numbers that bleed into electronic, semi-improvised Kraut rock. Be sure to pick up one of their hand-made bottle-cap contact microphones at the merch table!

About Hearts of Palm: Mixing up the whirr and pulse of electronica with freestyle percussion and exploratory guitar and sax, Hearts of Palm’s sound is one of restless probing and the absorption of various harsh sound textures into an identifiable schematic. There are strong hints of freestyle jazz but also of musique concrete, and elements of abstract electronica, motorik rhytms and even a touch of the blues. It’s not easy music but its abstracted form and juddering rhythms are frequently invigorating.
