J. Rhodes' cd release show for his new hit album "Jack Me Off, Jesus, Jack Me Off" will be Friday September 3rd at Cafe Bourbon St. in Columbus OH. Also performing is C-Bus hometown hero Scotty BoomBox with a full solo set and a set with his 3 piece rock band, Welcome Farm. Former Columbus superstar, Eric Alleman, will be making the trip from Cleveland to perform one of his wicked spoken rage sets as BeatingEric.

Imagine Wesley Willis doing a cameo in NWA... He revels in his complete lack of self-respect for his body and will get you to applaud (in time) to his dry heaves... I am honestly frightened that I am excited to finally get a listen to his CD!

Welcome Farm consists of 3 people:

1. Steve plays a crappy acoustic guitar with 3 strings on it all tuned to the same note. He has a electric pickup in it and runs it through a few distortion pedal and sings "crappy songs about sweet-ass people." Most of the songs are about people he knows, little stories about the people he has known in his life. All extremely entertaining. Steve ( I am told) used to be the drummer for the Bygones a while ago, but returned to songwriting.

2. Amy plays bass and sings back up vocals - she used to be the lead singer of The Checkout, the short lived all girl Columbus act. Her basslines in Welcome Farm act as the lead guitar you could say. She kicks total ass and is a fulltime rock and roll Mom as well.

3. I play drums on a crappy hand-me-down kit. Someday I hope to get a high hat. I practice a lot.

The songs are usually fast as hell, a little punk, but we have a slow one or two. I like to refer to it as folk/punk. Buty it's all rock, nothing more. This is our first gig in a club. We hope to get recording and book some more gigs later...

J rhodes is many things... but being politically correct is not one of them. You can probably take any one of his bits and pick it apart, roll it up like a newspaper and hit him on the nose with it.... but that misses the point. He is EQUALLY incorrect with EVERYONE. He does not single out any particular group... he singles out EVERY group including (probably more than others) the majority.
