TUESDAY AUGUST 10th - (tomorrow) - OSU URBAN ARTS SPACE - 5PM (sharp) - FREE! ! ! !

JACK WRIGHT / BOB MARSH / BEN BENNETT / JOHN M. BENNETT

http://uas.osu.edu/program/transient-music-series-0

Jack Wright has been playing improvisational music since the early 1970s. As a bold and outrageous saxophonist, Wright’s musical identity roots itself in radical shifts of style and approach; his musical abilities also include playing the piano and contra-alto clarinet. Due to his extensive touring, which includes performances in over 20 countries, Wright has been called the Johnny Appleseed of free improvisation as well as “king” in the underground world of experimental free improvisation (The Washington Post). Wright’s accomplishments include over forty recordings and contributions to such journals as Improjazz (France) and Signal to Noise (US). For more information about Jack Wright, please visit his website.

Bob Marsh is a well-seasoned improviser, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. Currently he leads a multiplicity of music ensembles that include the Che Guevarra Memorial Marching (and Stationary) Accordion Band, the Out of the Blue Chamber Ensemble, and String Theory; Marsh also participates in a plethora of groups, orchestras, and choirs. Although his musical studies include classical piano, guitar and vibraphone, he is currently active with the cello, accordion, violin, and electronics. Marsh received his BFA in sculpture and MA in humanistic clinical psychology. For more information on Bob Marsh, visit his website.

Since the 1970s, John M. Bennett has been an avant-garde poet and artist, with work that often uses deconstructed fragments of English and Spanish. Bennett has created a breadth of visual, audio, and textual work, and currently serves as the curator at The Ohio State University’s Avant Writing Collection. For more information, visit John M. Bennett’s website and blog.

Based in Columbus, Ben Bennett is a minimalist percussionist who has participated in several national tours. His performances contain elements of absurdity, with self-constructed instruments consisting of membranes, reeds, and objects manipulated to produce unusual sounds. For more information, visit his website or watch a previous performance.

this will not be a four act show but a collaboration, the four artists performing together as a 'quartet' of sorts, occasionally breaking down to solos or duos for the duration of the performance.

once again begins at 5 PM sharp, and is free.
