Shouldn't this be called a "Mac n' "Just Kidding, we can't eat cheese" cookoff?

EAT MEAT!

wow, all it took was the 1st reply before we got to this shit, huh?

nothing, and i mean nothing bothers me more as an omnivore than the constant hammering that veggies and vegans take from the "just eat bacon, pussy!" crowd. i've heard a thousand meat-eaters whine & cry about how veggies or vegans are always trying to shove their eating habits in others faces, but yet i've never known any veg or vegan half as preachy and obnoxious as the "eat meat, motherfucker!" crowd becomes the second someone starts a conversation or thread about anything even remotely vegetarian based. see columbusunderground.com for many, many examples of this . . .

shit, i eat meat 5 or 6 days a week, minimum, and the last fucking thing i care about on this whole fucking planet is what someone else decides to put on their plate. live & let live, eat & let eat.

i'm glad i have so many veg & vegan friends, it gives me a whole 'nother genre to learn how to cook. and it lets me sample some of their dishes that i'd have never made on my own. and thank fucking gawd for the vegan bakers who've taught me that vegan-sweets don't have to suck, and are very often far more moist & delicious than their egg-filled counterparts.

and for the record, there's not a single vegetarian or vegan out there who thinks the "eat meat" jokes are remotely funny.
and none of them, nor i, care in the slightest that you "couldn't live without bacon!!1!1"

My problem isn't so much with the lack of meat, it's the wanting to make things that taste like other things, without having to eat said other things. I don't like eating rabbit meat, so I'm not going to find an alternative to eating rabbit that still tastes like rabbit. I just won't eat rabbit.

My g/f is a veg, and so are many of my friends as well, and i thank them for their recipes that are alternative and delicious. I just can't believe that eating something that tastes like cheese(or meats) is a super alternative to actually eating cheese(or meats). To me it sounds like a big lie.

just sayin'

Sometimes, when I'm not interested in something somebody posts, I don't reply.

Just sayin'.

Right, well the event is on the 21st and regardless if you are vegan or not, making a vegan mac and cheese should be a fun challenge.

Don't like it? Be a cry baby and stay home. You can wipe your eyes with some bacon slabs or something.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle of the Vegan Mac and Cheeses
Dance party and Spore benefit
suggested donation of $3-$5
dance party starts at 9:30/10ish
Music provided by "Mr. Leg"

There are three ways to participate:

1. Make a Vegan Mac and Cheese dish: this means no eggs, no milk, no butter, no animal products. Try and shoot sallylouisepolk@gmail.com an e-mail before hand... but its not required! So if you cook up a vegan mac and cheese dish the day of the benefit and want to just show up, please do. There will be prizes for various categories of awards: weirdest, most sensual, least like mac and cheese, etc.

2: Be a judge and taste the Mac and Cheeses: Bring a donation of $3-$5 to be a judge. You will get to try all of the mac and cheeses and vote.

3: Show up and dance: Bring a donation of $3 to $5 and dance your ass off to the sweet sounds of our Dj friend, "Mr. Leg."

Hope it was a good turn out!
