1988 is the debut solo album from the critically acclaimed producer & emcee
Blueprint.
As the Weightless frontman, member of
Greenhouse Effect and half of Ohio dynamic duo
Soul Position (with
RJD2), Blueprint (aka Printmatic) is by no means a new artist and this album is not an attempt to recreate the past, but rather--in its own way--pay tribute to the concepts, artists, beats, breaks and themes of possibly the most revered year in Hip Hop, 1988!
So why should you go check out party on Saturday...?
Here's why:
1. Blueprint & Greenhouse Effect, Rare Groove, and 8076 (Illogic & DJ Walter Rocktight) will have some awesome new live routines and be performing the hits & new songs as well as some songs they've never done before.
2. You kinda, sorta like hip hop and are curious about what these guys have to offer.
3. Envelope is hosting. Those of you that know Tony knows he will make it entertaining & hilarious.
4. Spitball is performing. Those of you that've seen Spitball rock know their set will be great. If you haven't seen them, then don't sleep.
5. You want to prove to people you have a diverse taste in music.
6. Blueprint & Illogic appeared on 107.5 fm (the hip hop/R&B station--www.power1075.com) this past weekend. The hosts played a selection from 1988 on Saturday. Be sure to call in with your requests this Friday too.
It might be fun to see the looks on the peoples' faces who aren't familiar with them come out to the show-- based off the radio show-- and be amazed by the live show of Print, Illogic, Fess & Spitball.
7. Blueprint will be on
The Independant Playground on CD101 fm (The Columbus Alternative rock station--
http://www.cd101.com ) on Thursday, March 31st. See #6 for similiar reason.
8. It'll be the best $7 live hip hop show this year (or $5 if you get the presale tix @ Magnolia Thunderpussy). Better for you in this bad economy.
9. The sound issue with Little Brothers will be taken care of, so you'll be able to hear all the good goodness.
10. The new standard for shows is to not just keep it as a rap show. It'll be a party too; there'll be music aimed to get people dancing, drinking, laughing and socializing. If you like your live hiphop show dark, serious & depressing while you remain immobile & anti-social, then you will be in hell.
You have been warned.
11. Tax free music will be available, including the 1988 vinyl.
12. Do you really wanna be that cat that could've gone but didn't because of some dumb reason and then bugs everyone that went for details?
