I personally have said everything that I think I needed to say on the subject, but just want to clear up one thing:

I wasn't trying to start a conversation about whether or not we like Chris Lutzko and he knows this. No offense to him. He's just someone trying to make things like the rest of us and his process is generally awesome by me. I'm not super P.C. or easy to offend. I do have a shred of integrity in the scene and I would rather demonstrate that than wet noodle from show to show hoping to get included in something I don't really believe in. That's all. I really wanted to just start a discussion about a trend I was noticing that I can't stand. I think it has more to do with a certain mentality in our culture right now than one person in particular. This is the first time I have really taken notice of anything Chris has done. It really was not supposed to be about him. So I kind of regret that this conversation had given some other people (not myself) license to insult his intelligence when really my gripe was more based on a practice.

(However, I was confused by the constant 3cb plugging earlier in the thread. What is it? An overpriced men's fashion quarterly? Like, a local one? I don't think that kind of stuff is recession-proof.)

Oh wow...Dash Snow.

I met him at a party in grinningvillage in 2006. Of course I don't know him at all, but he didn't seem like a bad guy. He had alot of people hanging onto him, and you could tell he was definitely used to being the center of affection or at least obsession. I mean, he's definitely very charismatic without even trying to be....which is probably why I ended up hating everyone else and kind of liking him.

But...from the snippets of conversation I had with him it's really depressing at how far he's disappeared inside of his exterior performance. He's completey posessed with a supreme superficial confidence without any good reason for having it and I think that's why he's so charismatic....he makes you feel bold.

I really really like Ariel Levy's writing though. I didn't even know that it was her who wrote the NYmagazine article.

And just for the record: I trust the intentions (good or evil) of The Unholy Two and Chris L. much more than I trust semi-celebrity artists from NYC who worship Bukowski and adhere to their own personal doctrine of importance.

And on that note....does anyone else think that The Unholy Two would be a pretty sweet shoegaze band? I'm serious....

I think it is obviously impossible to bring a subject like this to any message board, and not have it turn into a multi-page collection of people chiming in, getting angry, getting defensive, trying to be witty and all that jazz.

This thread isn't really that big once you remove the trying to be witty part. There is a lot of that going on here.

But really, what a sad fucking waste. You've got to think, at that point, all his friends should have done something. Getting to the point where everyone is enamored with you so much to actually help you at all is a kiss of death.
