didn't know that flyer was racist until someone told me. I thought it was supposed to be a shocked person and something about pitchfork. i don't know. |

I like pictures of black people. Unless it's 50 Cent or SLJ in Black Snake Moan. I think there should be more pictures of the black, brown, and Irish everywhere period. |

I'm no expert on this but the expression on the black kid's face: wide-eyed and spooked and such has been used in the past as a way of demeaning black people (think: buckwheat). It's not harmless or accidental. And if girl is offended by it then so be it. It's not up to a bunch of white art majors to talk her out of it or belittle her for the way she feels. |

i can see how the flyer wouldn't offend certain white people, but i can definitely see how it would be offensive to black people. put yourselves in a black person's shoes. think about the history of blacks in this country... the injustice, slavery, lynchings, etc, etc. then look at that image. it's pretty damn spooky. if i were black i think i would have reacted in a simlar way as Val. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spook see line 3... a really weird word to use considering the subject of the conversation. |

So maybe let's not get so defensive the next time somebody suggests that Done Waiting isn't really up to an intelligent and thoughtful discussion about appropriating images of other races for shitty flyers. |
