Someone didn't read last week's Columbus Alive. She probably should have.
Can I get some background on this? Because really should I be reading the Alive? I mean, is it that enlightening? I was under the impression that the Alive was the local free arts and entertainment paper. Again, no offense to the Alive. But what are you talking about and who are you?
You may be right, though. They just don't have the Alive at the gay bar. I read Outlook and the Gay People's Chronicle. Bearing that in mind, I'm ripe to get offended by practically anything.
Seriously, though. Where to begin?
I knew the questions would be asked, "what about famous black people versus anonymous black people" and "what about hot chicks across the race spectrum"? Perfectly, predictably reasonable points. I was trying to be a little more specific. I mean just as someone might choose the image of robots or hot vampires to draw public attention, using the image of yes, anonymous black people for the same purpose. I am simply saying as one person, as frequently one of 3 to 5 black people and generally the only black female at SAID SHOWS, I have been seeing too much of it and am not into it. I hope these things aren't going over people's heads. You're not just making a scene commentary to white bro over here, it's way complicated. I mean, I know I sound like a total lesbian when I say these things. But it's just one thing I'm asking. I mean, cut up hookers, naked chicks, gay nazis fisting each other, a burning car full of shitty diapers, a satanic grandma covered in bloody, chunky jizz, I mean, whatever. I'm just saying white people, don't go specifically THERE.
Making a controversial yet viable social commentary that I am misinterpreting is one thing (thank you, Wes). I don't read Pitchfork, that shit was over my head. I don't mean to cry race wolf and I don't think that I am. I think what I'm saying is I have reached adequate saturation in how many different ways I can be made uncomfortable by people I want to be supporting. I put a post up because it's not just one band and probably not just me that's pretty over that shit. Trust me, I'm not that easy to offend. It's just one thing that I hope you bros can get over. Just one thing. Get it? One.
Carry the fuck on.
