I love when new people come to this board and think they are more intelligent than everyone here.
Or think that everything on the internet is ironic.
2002 was like a mad long time ago.
Okay, okay...wait. Actually I would rather say thank you, Doug.
Hey, you're welcome. I actually thought the discussion was valid and interesting, and probably necessary, but you kind of blew it when you slammed this site as whole and started singling out members of this board for petty reasons. It's a mistake a lot of new posters make, and it gets tough to dig out of that hole, because there are some seriously intelligent minds here who are willing to give their sincere opinions and discuss topics like the one you brought up.
I'm not one of them, so I'll stay out of it, but I will say I just went for a car ride and thought about this topic the entire ride home. Just remain on the topic at hand and don't take for granted the intelligence of some of the people on this board, especially that of Chris'.
First of all, it wasn't my intention at all to insult Chris' intelligence whatsoever. I was actually just using that flyer as a current example of many that I have seen that make me similarly uncomfortable. I'm assuming most people have seen this one as it is up now. None of this was intended as an attack on Chris whatsoever. He is fine with me. I believe he's/you are intelligent and I have said it a million times, I support him/you creatively. This is actually not even about C.L at all. He just happened to have done something that I've been annoyed about for a long time.
And I wasn't trying to slam Donewaiting or any one person individually. When I used the term "advanced" I just meant, I wasn't trying to have a broadened conversation about racism. That is way too complicated. I was only talking about one thing. Which was initially related. Initially. See, this is where things get sketchy. Because I don't think anyone really feels where I'm coming from and my language isn't really totally effective in getting across what I would like. But no, I don't think anyone is stupid or that I am smarter than everyone. No way. I do however, have a different perspective than most people who will read this and I can try to be diplomatic but I can't deviate from that.
I think I made my real point very early. The point is that I am super disappointed by this one thing that I've been noticing. Sorry I got heated and told off some anonymous people who I probably know in real life. I don't know who you are on the internet. We'll talk about it, maybe. I didn't bring this up with the intention to commit social suicide or burn any bridges. No one else had said anything about it, I say something in public and everyone gets to uncomfortable and like, can't talk about it. Hence, the internet.
Anyway, I don't see there being any conclusion in sight, I'm not looking for one. Thanks everyone for reading and feeling whatever you feel about it.
Lastly, I do actually have a sense of humor and can even be nice sometimes. To the person in Brooklyn, I have no idea what you were talking about in the last post. Like, not at all. I am a total fucking rube, ask anyone.
I'm playing at The Shelf in an hour if you want to talk about it.
