yeah, i've been re-reading the entire run of transmet this week.



felt like a good time to read it as one big lump sum.

seems impossible to me that this was written BEFORE dubya

yeah, i finished the full run this morning. my 3rd or 4th time with it, but the first to be all 10 books in a row with nothing else between chapters. it's honestly just one of the greatest things EVER to hit the comic medium.

there's more "on target" writing in that than in the last ten years of alan moore's revival. and way more than (honestly, my favorite "comic" writer) brian michael bendis' entire career


and i hate to admit it, but "filthy assistants" kinda get me hot . . .

I used to prefer sandman but now I think transmet is the best comic series ever published.

sandman's amazing and all, but it's basically, at heart, a fairy tale. and as much as i love a good fairy tale, i'd MUCH rather have some high-tension-HST-inspired-political-thriller-madness book any ol' day . . .

and honestly, at this pont, i think i even prefer garth ennis' preacher over sandman, as far as the "taking them as a whole tale" kinda thing goes . . .

my ex wife has my preacher run so it's been ages since i've read it but I remember it kind of falling apart towards the later third of the series. i've never read it all at one time though so maybe that opinion will change if I ever get my comics back.
