There is a vacant seat on the Commission in District 1. District one is the Northeast District (NE): North of 16th Avenue and east of High Street, except that which is part of District 2. Click here for a map of the University Area. If you know of anyone living in District 1 who might be interested in joining the Commission, please contact the Executive Committee at executive@universityareacommission.org.


After several years of continued committment to the University Area and the Commission, Roger Deal has resigned. Roger's breadth of knowledge and great sense of humor will be missed at every meeting.


Ron Hupman was voted in as the new Chair of Zoning in Roger's place. Thanks to Ron for taking over this important position on the Commission.


September Commission Meeting
This month's Commission Meeting will be held Wednesday, September 20 at the Northwood & High Building, Room 100, 2231 N. High St., Columbus, OH. Univerisity Area Commission meetings are held every third Wednesday of the month at this location.


This month's meeting agenda will be posted online by Wednesday September 13.


Attending a Commission meeting is a great way to find out what is going on the university area. You can also address the Commission if you would like to bring a subject to the Commission's attention. However, it is best to see if your particular issue falls within a UAC Committee and bring it to the Committee first.


Committee Meetings
If you feel that your subject falls within the scope of one of our Committees (Zoning, Planning, Governance, Code & Environment, and Community Relations), you are welcome to attend a Committe Meeting. They are generally held on both the 1st Wednesdays and Thursdays of the month, check here for specific meeting times and locations.

SPECIAL COMMUNITY MEETING NOTICE



Hello Neighbor,

The University Area Commission Code & Environment Commitee has scheduled a meeting with area residents and stakeholders to discuss the proposed rezoning from AR-2 (Apartment Residential) to L-P-2 (Public Parking) for the area located at 45 W. Dodridge. A representative for the applicant will be available to answer questions regarding the proposed rezoning and usage. Please bring any questions or concerns you might have for the applicant.

Liquor Permit Renewal Objections on this Monday's City Council Agenda - December 11, 2006 at 5:00pm

This October the University Area Commission had recommended that City Council object to the renewal of four university area establishment's liquor permits. Of the four recommendations, three are to be reviewed by Columbus City Council this Monday, December 11, 2006 at 5:00pm. There will be time during the agenda for (3) speakers to address Council in suppport of these objections, so if you are intersted in speaking at the full Council meeting, please contact Ian MacConnell at president@universityareacommission.org.

Also, it is important that a strong presence from the community is seen by City Council in support of going forward with the objections, so please plan on attending the meeting even if you are not going to speak. Please forward this email on to anyone you think might be interested in attending. If you need a ride or are interested in car pooling please contact 1stvp@universityareacommission.org.
