what sucks is, even though I was a renter and a student, I never got into the whole "vandalize and fuck shit up" phase - possibly because I was more concerned about flying under the radar while doing other things... I generally tried to take care of the places I lived, even though I was young and stupid, because... well, because I fucking lived there. crazy.

i bet you less than 10% of the people in that area own homes. it is primarily a rental area 5 blocks north of campus (duh). the houses in that area are run down...why not talk about the shitty landlords? if owning a home there sucks so bad....sell your house before the value goes down too much (due to the neglected rental properties/not public urination)

...and move 10 blocks up high street.....and if you rent in that area, and dont like it...when your lease expires....rent somehwere else

I'm curious as to what the "test" would be to determine whether a specific business is "neighborhoody" enough.

Are we talking about ? Because that section of High Street is an urban corridor for the most part. This may not have been the case historically, but that's the immutable situation.

There will never be any sort of centrally-planned "solution" that maintains any sort of economic growth or prosperity.

A revitalized High Street = higher property values in the neighborhood.

Higher property values = more "responsible" property owners and better neighborhood upkeep.
