I had a pretty out of date computer which still worked (was fine for word processing and email) and i put an ad up on craigslist saying it was on my front porch if anyone wanted it. I left for 45 mins and not only was it gone I had about 10 emails asking if I could hold it for people.

All the computer advice above is good. but...

I called SWACO about TVs. they don't recycle 'em. Neither does ohio computer recycling. They couldn't point me towards anyone who does.

I just set the TV out back and let the alley gnomes do their thing. was gone by morning. probably still ended up in a dumpster somewhere, but at least it might have been repaired/parted out/recycled.
