Warning: This post was not meant for anyone with heart conditions, pregnant women, and especially vegetarians.

A group from got together on Saturday at the Ohio Deli (3444 S High St) to attempt "The Dagwood Challenge".

The Dagwood is a sandwich on the menu that consists of 2.5 lbs of lunch meat (Ham, Turkey, and Roast Beef) along with tomato, lettuce, onion, and mayo, stuffed in between two large slices from a big sourdough loaf.

The "Challenge", as issued by the restaurant is for any customer to consume the sandwich along with a side of fries in under 30 minutes. The winner gets their polaroid on the wall of fame, along with a "I defeated the Dagwood" T-Shirt. And of course, bragging rights.

So... we had 11 contestants enter (the largest group so far to compete simultaneously) with at least a dozen others along to watch, cheer, and laugh.

you get me one without tomato and mayo, and i can set a new land speed record.

hell, you can even replace those with bacon and i bet i can still take down your fastest man . ..

i wasn't quite sure about you columbus underground folks until just now. anyone who organizes a gluttony race is a-o-k in my book

when i was at osu we did the triple cheese challenge at the wendy's at the union. it was before the triple was even on the menu. any way, biggie sized triple cheese burger combo finish everything thing. it was ungodly.

of course, i finished everything

My friend Josh is the current champ. He did it in six minutes, I believe. He didn't want to eat for the following two days.

6 minutes = insane!

Back in the "Glory" days, I was known for this sort of thing:
* 2 Labamba Super Burritos in <10 minutes? Check.
* Entire pizzas? check - regularly.
* Eating everything edible left on the table after already eating dinner at BW3? check. (it sucked because there was at least a whole dinner worth of leftovers and I was rendered 100% incapable of getting drunk that night)
* trying to break the World Record of number of whole McDonald's hamburgers stuffed in your mouth? Check, but FAIL. I only got 2 burgers in my mouth, but then I found out later the guy who holds the record had one in his mouth, and one in each cheek. If I had not almost choked to death, I'd try again.

Those heady days are gone for me, but I like your moxie.

The thing is, it's a damn good sandwich...for the first half.

It's also under 8 bucks, which is just crazy.

I'd so be down for doing that.

I could do it.
