bummer, one of my dear friends was a skybus FA . . .

Yep, Mr. Sowash and I were supposed to fly Skybus in two weeks to New Orleans, for his sister's weddin'. Aaaaah ... I quickly booked new tickets via Priceline, and given what we were going to have to pay to rent a car, the difference between our old $80 Skybus tix and our $200 US Air tickets is not so great. I'm sad for us to lose this transportation resource, for the folks who are due to fly out tomorrow, and, of course, for the folks who work for the company. Suck all 'round.

That it would probably fold at any minute was the main reason I never bothered to use Skybus.

Had 3 tickets with them for a flight in August already paid for. Fortunately the CC company reversed the charges. Too Bad really and yeah, if anything CMH is just a lame airport compared to most. Anyone whos flown a few times would probably agree.

So...anyone tried to get their refund yet? I just got off the phone with the bank and the woman stressed that they were going to "try" to get my money back and they can't guarantee anything...which blows but I understand...the bank can't be responsible for Skybus.

If you're using Huntington Bank, you need to call in with the dates and amnts of your ticket purchase(s). In addition, you'll have to go into a bank branch, fill out a check card dispute form and fax it to a # the person on the phone will give you.

My boss tried to get $800.00 worth of tickets refunded, and was already turned down.

They have already filed for bankruptcy.

How does a startup company as big as Skybus go out of business in less than a year? Didn't they have any long term planning? Did they really think they would turn a profit in 11 months of service?

Also, they abruptly stopped service at midnight on Saturday AM. They announced that Friday. Does anyone believe the executives all just showed up to work Friday expecting business as usual and by Friday afternoon decided they had to close shop? No, which means they were selling tickets to people even after they knew they would not provide the service. Lame. I'd love to see what, if any, golden parachutes were given out to executives.

Well, the CEO and the VP had quit within the last 10 days or so, so clearly there was some hint it was coming. That said, I don't think any airline...let alone one with a business model as tight as Skybus...can survive with fuel prices where they have headed. I mean, Skybus was the third airline to call it quits last week alone.

So, while I don't approve of the way they did it, I certainly can sympathize with the why.

"Yeah, this is your captain speaking. We're done. We're gonna put the plane down now, and you're all gonna have to get off and start brand new lives wherever it is we've landed. BYE Suckas!!!"
