ok, i've figured out why Columbus is overweight - all you people care about is food.
if you want a real Columbus experience, walk the 3 Clintonville ravines. start up by the train tracks, climb down the cliffs, walk all the way through the shale creeks, drainage ditches, graffittied underbridges, tunnels, etc, till you pop out in the Olentangy. i recommend wearing either heavy, waterproof boots or some old sneakers you don't mind fucking up. Glen Echo is by far the most advanced adventure. you start at the train tracks and hafta kinda climb down this big shale cliff with vines and roots growing out of it, then you plop into a little bit of creek, cut thru a big tunnel and walk along the beautiful creek-bed until you end up in the Blood Bowl - and i think that the tunnel under High street that runs to the Devil's Dips area off the bike path might be locked up, though you might be able to squeeze through the fence. Walhalla is easy enough, there's a road running right through it. walk it, or cruise down it on a bicycle or a skateboard - it's downhill! Overbrook is #2 on the hairy scary list, mainly because when the road diverges from the creekside to go up to High, the creek follows through THE TUNNEL OF TERROR!!!!! which really just runs diagonally under high street, it's about 4.5 feet tall, so you gotta kinda duck, but it's really sweet. then it pops out on the vine-y overgrown part of Whetstone Park's east side. follow the creek all the way to the olentangy. fuck it, i'm doing that this weekend.
