if you're handy with a screw driver try:

I get all my frames from them.
Cheap, easy to assemble, fast delivery, nice peeps.

You can get plexiglass from them too, but I order mine locally from American Plastics. They are also cheap, fast, and nice.
They are on 5th ave in grandview.

I've gotten probably 50 posters framed in the last couple of years this way.
I haven't found a better way if you don't mind assembling.

Good luck!

i KNEW i'd find a topic like this if i searched.

anyone got any newer/cheaper leads?

i'm feeling like "the day of the great framing" has finally arrived, and all this shit i've had in rolls or flats waiting for the great day finally need to be on these walls. which means ideally i'd like to do a good few of 'em all at once. and of course, NOTHING is a nice simple standard size.

any leads? anyone?

i can make custom frames to your design..for a fair price..

i made the frames for an adam elliot art show a few years ago..they were sleek and lovely and kept very much in the background..

i'm currently in a shop that allows me much higher quality work and the owners encourage all my side work..

frames are easy, shipping is a drag..

I have had ~20 concert posters framed and most of them have been framed at Michaels. Yes it is a chain store which is hard to swallow, however:

approximately once every 2-3 months, Michaels usually has a 50% off everything framing sale (ie not just 50% off the matte, or 50% off the frame. 50% off everything). That is when I usually get things framed.

Some tips: Get the glass that limits sun damage and explicitly say that you do not want the poster adhered (glued) to the backing.

Also you should still get a couple quotes to see who is the cheapest.

I started ordering frames for my concert posters from the following site:

www.framesbymail.com

They are not too bad in the price department.

If anyone finds cheaper local let me know.

I should just learn to frame myself, its not that hard.

Now I do need a piece of artwork frame that must be mounted and hung and not pressed against the glass, any suggestions there?

i get my frames from americanframe.com which is pretty cheap IMO. Plus they're in Toledo so I can pick up oversized stuff without having to pay insane shipping fees. But you have to pay ohio sales tax.

i just dropped 1k on posters last week so framing is going to have to wait a bit but when i've got some cash i'll send you a PM underspecialization. If you can beat american frame's price on custom cut UV acrylic and mounting boards I might have a fairly large order for you. I'm doing most of my stuff without mattes right now mostly to save wall space but I've got a few and one huge print (like 34x46) that I'll probably want to use a local framer for rather than americanframe.

just did a 12" by 12", 1" black matte wood frame, no mat, standard backing and plexi from the 2 sites just mentioned as I need to order one (for my sweet secret machines glow in the dark "in the round" tour poster!)

framesbymail = 15.70 +ship
americanframes = 20.40 +ship

I think the econospace would work in that situation to keep the art off the glass. I believe I got the 1/8" version.
http://www.frametek.com/HTML/EconoSpace/

I'll definitely do a price check on frames by mail next time I order if they're that much cheaper than americanframe!

the new cable print by aaron horkey plus a blue/green variant limited to 19 and a white variant limited to 8.

I also picked up a new emek print to flip so I can hopefully make back some of the cost. I sold off a few of my other things to help pay for it too. I'm not usually into the variants but this is one of my favorite posters of his.

i love derek hess although i don't have any of his stuff. I missed the opening of his mahan gallery show last year and by the time I got down there the next day the piece I really wanted had been sold. I think he's got a new book coming out if I remember correctly so i'll have to look for that.

and I like a lot of reno's stuff too. i'm honestly surprised he hasn't taken off more in the gigposter world.

The Michaels store at the northeast corner of Route 23 and Powell Road in Lewis Center (behind Bob Evans) has a sign in the window now that says "50% off all custom framing orders."
