Personally, I think it takes a major set of brass ones to go do that, and I prop the hell out of him for it. He just bought a bunch o' respect from me on it. I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

i LOVED a few years back when marty cole (former manager of singing dog, back in it's glory days) did the TOP music reviews while john wasn't writing for them for a spell.

i've known marty since i was a kid, and i was blown away with how damn good his writing was for a local rag . . . and it stopped as suddenly as it started.

I usually love Petric's writing...except when he's obviously dishing it out just to extend the expiration date of his aging license. He'll have to trade it in for a Golden Buckeye card soon enough.

But I took this latest article as a slap in the face to the actual soldiers who are serving. If an aging stoner can go to Iraq, anybody can is about all I got out of it.

Actually, not my opinion, Jon Whizkey's. I kinda feel like he'd know.

I get your point about the opera fan, but not if the it were the opera fan's job to write about music.

But, please recall, dude said he was "open to criticism" and I was just really joking around.

I actually enjoy what he writes.
