Thing is, Pita Hut and Grill are right across the street.

The hummus at Acropolis is dripping with olive oil and therefore, as you might imagine, wonderful.

The most-recent configuration of the Queen Bee is tiny. The people there were friendly and the food was pretty good, but the interior was old and outdated. I think it had 2 booths and 2 tables.

Hopefully Dirty Frank's will be bigger. I can't remember but feel like the building space to the south might be vacant? Hopefully if it is and they are expanding.

The other restaurant next door, called Little Palace I think, if there is a line at Dirty Frank's and you decide you might want to try Little Palace, I would advise against it. The food is decent but the service sucks.

I drive by Dirty Frank's every day on the way to work, and typically look to see if I can see any updates or evidence of construction or posted notices about an opening date. They still have the white paper covering all the windows, so nothing new to see from the exterior. Hopefully they are upgrading the interior.

Hey Dog Lovers,

Sorry for the delayed response regarding status of Dirty Frank's Hot Dog Palace; as you can imagine, we've been busy ironing-out countless details involved in making this delicious dog-dream happen.

Here's where we're at:

The place has been gutted. Nothing remains of the old Queen Bee interior; bar gone, booths gone, 17 layers of nasty carpet gone, all non-load-bearing walls gone...you get the idea. We are renovating, completely, the space. New bar, new kitchen, new flooring, a second bathroom, etc.

The engineering drawings are being finalized and will be submitted for permits within two weeks.

In the meantime, we're busy locating and acquiring equipment, meeting with our vendors, and working on the menu while Thom Lessner adds his creative genius to the design/decor.

We are serious about these dogs, people! Next week finds our expedition party in Chicago for some tasty, umm..."fact-checking" and research; Columbus' own Jim Ellison (CMH Gourmand) has been incredibly helpful in preparing our group. In addition to stuffing our faces and taking copious notes, we intend to meet with the Vienna Beef folks!

We've reserved the domain names dirtyfrankscolumbus.com and dirtyfrankshotdogs.com and expect to have at least a splash page up this week showcasing some of Thom Lessner's hard work.
