Maybe this is the lamest thing to discuss/bitch about but is the construction on High St. driving anybody else up a wall? I live on Hudson and Neil and the construction during the past six or so months has made it impossible to go anywhere. I will take one route to my job in the morning, and then by the afternoon that route is closed and I have to figure out a new one.

When they were working on Neil/Dodridge a few months ago, which complicated my route to my summer job, there was a sign that said "Your tax dollars hard at work." Which felt like a kick to the groin since I can still hardly tell what the hell they did over the several months of road work.

I also really love those gigantic steel plates they place on the street, and every once in a while when I have the pleasure of seeing an abandoned six foot high pile of asphalt.

And what's the deal with airline food?

i'm with you dude. i live at kelso and neil and it's been uber-annoying...although it's better now than the weeks they also had the repaving of indianola from north broadway to hudson plus the work on north broadway at 315 - all at the same time - that felt like somebody was taking out some frustration on south clintonville.

don't despair. this will be over soon. just in time for snow.
sigh.

Try Detroit some time. They have a highway that stops before you get into the city. Columbus is fine.

I can't tell which voting option means I agree with you, but I concur. What the hell is going on in that corner? I try to ride my bike through there sometimes too and it's awful.

yes i'm sure there are worse places for traffic or construction and things in the world that are much worthier of being vocal about, but it has just been kinda lame. i understand when i am in new york and there is crazy traffic on the george washington bridge with irrate drivers in a hurry to get somewhere important to do something interesting, but when everybody is pissed off and in a hurry to get to rally's or giant eagle for some rote task and it takes forever its just annoying. its not the worst thing ever...just annoying.

didn't know if others have been as annoyed as i have...

and yes my poll options were kinda idiotic, thats just how i roll. :D

since the city gave them a 2 YEAR contract, they are going to take there time completing the project. would you hurry if you have two years to finish and you were going to get paid the same no matter what?

this is also probably going to cause the small sunflower natural food market to close. they weren't doing all that great in the first place, now they have even less business.

If you are getting a flat rate, the wise thing to do is get the thing done as quickly as possible to make the most money and move on to the next project.

I doubt they are fucking around trying to fill up the 2 year window if they don't need that long.

certainly there are shady construction co's at work on this project, but i doubt their attitude is "let's take as long as possible."

it more likely concerns how they can cut corners without getting caught and who they can pay to look the other way..
