New York films?

With the return of stay at home weather i'll prolly be watching bit of the tele..

all rentals and netflix (and lost and pbs)..

started last nite with Midnight Cowboy. Schlesinger's work here is fantastic..

It reminded me of this old desire to watch films made in/about NYC and aside from pretty much all of scorcese's work (and some others), i need to fill in my list..

Suggestions?

warriors and dog day afternoon were the 2 to spring to my mind.

i've actually had this discussion with folks before (especially right after spending a few months living in ft. green) . . .

as a tv-child in the 70's with early cable and HBO sometimes i feel like i grew up in the new york of 70's movies even more than having grown up here in columbus. i knew more 70's NYC landmarks than ohio ones, i felt more like the characters of the movies i watch set there than i did like the folks i knew here in c-bus, and it just became even more like that once i started spending months on end there.

i have a HUGE soft spot of the NYC of 70's and early 80's movies . . . even more than the real NYC.
