I think I might have first heard about this place on these boards, but anyway, I've got to recommend it to Indian food lovers. Had the dinner buffet last night and it's quality and only 10.99 and has just replaced Taj Mahal as my official go to Indian place. Chowpati, lassis, sambhar, curries, dosas, chai, damn it's good.

Good for fans of southern-Indian food (think Udipi), the owner is super-friendly, the food is delish and you get a gut-busting amount for relatively little cash.

other then slightly weird vibe (caused mostly by feeling like i'm eating at somebody's house and not a restaurant) this place is fucking amazing.

but it's an experience and not just a quick meal.

I still like my meat, but it looks really good.

The food and atmosphere was so awesome I didn't even realize it is a vegy-only place! Duh!

I checked it out. I had possibly the worst service at a restaurant ever. Never a good sign when you get a pitcher of water 15 minutes before menus, cups, silverware. Food was alright.

after reading this thread, i wanted to check this place out and did last night. definitely one of the best dining experiences i've ever had. the food was so fresh..so good. i loved that the lassi's/chai tea were included in the oh so reasonable $10.99 dinner buffet. it was quiet there last night, and we were the only two people there. the owner tended to us personally and made all of our appetizers for us, whilst telling us about the food and how it is prepared.

but this is the clincher:

i love kheer and usually have 2-3 bowls at during/after the meal. i noticed there was no kheer on the buffet and asked if i could order it separately. they didn't have any made last night, but the owner had the kitchen make some kheer just for me. i mentioned that this was unnecessary and he just smiled and said it'll be ready soon. since it was freshly made, it was served hot and unlike any kheer i've ever had. so good. i asked for a take home cup for the rest and he took it to the kitchen to top off the container. got home, stuck it in the fridge for a few hours and finished it while i was watching the daily show. perfect.

he asked where we heard about the restaurant, so i was able to tell him about donewaiting, which was fun.

I love spicy food. I've only had Indian food once (and it was from Athens, Ohio). Are a lot of the dishes spicy? If so....I'm soooo there!

I'll check it out. I love Chinese food, and someone told me that Indian food is sort of similar but totally different at the same time. I'm not a vegetarian, but I love vegetarian dishes. Especially faux rib sandwiches. I like 'em better than than the real thing. I also LOVE tofu when it is prepared right.

Anyone have Indian restaurant suggestions for a beginner?
