I was not impressed with Dr McKee

They rushed me through with our new kitten, did not want to give her a 7$ worm pill even though the cat has worms, because he didn't want to have to "charge me twice in case she eats a flea and gets it again" I found that absurd, the cat is suffering and its only 7 dollars.

He didn't want to give the flea treatment, until I sort of made him look through her fur for fleas and he found 2

I also had to sort of convince him to give the vaccinations.

I said we thought the kitten may be around 6 months old, and he said "that's exactly right" which seemed odd since i didn't have a clue.

I thought he was too old school in that he wanted to skimp on stuff for price, when I had gone in there wanting to get this kitten feeling better no matter what, and in the end it was only 65 dollars anyway.

And also they sort of scoffed at me when I tried to use my debit card. "He doesn't do cards" which I thought was a poor business practice.

He was nice, but i was looking for more, such as taking the time to describe how long something would take to work, and any side effects etc

well, not to repeat myself, and this is based solely on one visit, but i couldn't be happier that i took mel.starker's advice on dr. miley at 5th and kenny animal hospital . . .

I had a cat that hated car rides. Once when I had to take her to a vet, a friend recommended I put her in a pillow case and leave her on my lap. I was skeptical, so she came along with my cat in her lap in the pillow case. Much to my amazement she seemed very calm. Anybody else ever try that? I can't promise that would work but, it's something to think about.

So after relocating to Washington Beach and doing a little research, I settled on Glencoe Animal Hospital. I wanted to take Sally to Clintonville Animal Hospital (they have taken care of my dudes & ladies before, and they are closer to my house), but they just keep weird hours, and I couldn't find a good time to get 'er in. But I'm really pleased with my decision (Sally, however, HATES it. It took 2 technicians with big ol' gloves on to restrain her while Dr. Gibson was examining her. The fury!). They were super nice, reasonably priced, very down-to-earth, and did not try to give me the hard sell on anything.

Turns out The Sally has a bladder infection, which I suspected (the eye thing has tapered off - this visit was unrelated). They gave me some pills and suggested blood tests which I haven't decided on *ahem- expensive*. We have a follow-up visit in a couple weeks. On Tuesday, Dr. Gibson called me herself to see how Sally was doing, which was a nice surprise. I got a thank-you note in the mail today, too.

Bottom line: I recommend these people.

P.S. y'all can be friends with Sally on Catbook (yeah, it's stupid).

Thank you. That didn't really help, did it? It was entertaining, certainly. Thank you nonetheless.

We stopped going about a year ago. My cat had this closed urethra thing where he couldn't pee and was locked up at the vet for a couple of days. It happened once before and we took him to OSU and they charged us a ton, which we expected, because hey, it's OSU. But when it happened at Glencoe, they charged us the same amount, which I thought was ridiculous. An independent vet shouldn't charge the same as an established veterinary hospital. Glencoe also seemed to charge a lot for other little things. We switched and went to Clintonville, and, as I stated before, I almost fell over when they gave me the total for the first visit because it was so much cheaper than Glencoe.

I also didn't like the vibe I got from the cat vet at Glencoe...it was like she was accusing me of lying about things. The vets at Clintonville are muuuuuch nicer.
