this is a fun story so i thought i'd tell you all.

at about 3:30 sunday morning while walking home from work (about a block from home, actually - at the corner of adams and blake in the heart of the 'beach) i was grabbed, handcuffed, and had my bag rifled through by two cops who jumped out of a paddywagon. they wouldn't say anything but "shut up!" until they it became painfully obvious i wasn't who they were looking for. i evidently fit the description of someone who had been seen breaking into a car. if the description of a guy in a grey and blue checked shirt can be applied to a guy in a black, grey and blue-striped hooded sweatshirt. anyhow, three amusing things came out of this: one, i had "checks" described to me by two cops in the middle of realizing how wrong they were; two - and this isn't really the normal kind of amusing - all the cops would say while letting me get on my way was, "aren't you glad? wouldn't you be glad if it had been yer car?" to which all i could do was frown and kind of shake my head in disbelief; and three, when they finally cared to ask me where i was coming from (work) and what i did there (sound) and the one cop looked all through my bag again, finding just mics and mic cables, he looked over and said, "his "story" checks out."

i thought this was going to be about Hot Pursuit.

I did too, I have tried several times in a 3 AM lull to find something on the web about Hot Pursuit, but have yet to find anything. I would have thought somebody by now would have uploaded a video or at least posted an MP3 of the "DARE, to keep a kid off drugs" song that I can still sing.

Wow. Sounds like you did a good job dealing with them. I can never refrain from telling them what a bunch of jackasses they are, in those situations.

i'd bet kyle has a copy of their record. i used to see it at half-price books every once in awhile. they've got guitars that look like automatic weapons. probably better than arnette howard as far as concerts i saw at my school, but not by much.

i picked up their first album somewhere a few years ago. it is pre-gun guitars. we never had dare at my schools, so i only know about them by reputation. the entire album was written by a married couple who were not in the band. i think they sold real estate or something. it is a pretty good album.

i thought this thread was going to be about how the cop rock clip for "let's be careful out there" was removed from youtube, but all the other ones are still up. i am really disappointed because it was my favorite cop rock song besides "baby merchant." please alert me if you ever see it online again.

i have a blue Hot Pursuit shirt that i found at a thrift store.
