How does it work?
MC's, Singers, Groups, & Bands here is your chance to get your music heard on the radio! Submit your radio edited and radio ready music, videos, photos, & more. Starting March 1st voters will vote on their favorite artists. The top artists will make it to the semi-final round where they will perform their song live. 4 finalists will be chosen for the finals and o...nly one will be chosen as the winner of the First "Are You Radio Ready?" competition. The winner will have their Radio Ready song feature on Power 107.5 and will receive tons of additional prizes. ONLY ONE WILL BE CHOSEN...WILL IT BE YOU?

Can I still play if the contest has already started?
Yes. The Registration Period Doesn't End Until Feb 28th, So make sure you are uploading as many Radio Ready songs, videos, photos, and information on you or your band up until the deadline. Remember the song must be edited for radio. Also make sure you are sharing your music. Utilize the social network buttons, push fans to rate your song, make adjustments, collaborate, and create the perfect radio ready song. Once voting begins you will not be able to change your submission so get it right and get it out to the masses..

Are there prizes?
Of course! After the first round of voting, 16 finalists will be chosen to advance to the Semi-finals. Based on performance and online voting, 4 artists will advance to the finals in late May. Then a champion will be chosen. 9 Free Secrets to becoming a Radio Ready Champion:

1. Market yourself.

2. Annoy your friends.

3. Invent and build your own instrument.

4. Hum and mumble. Jot words down. Play music really loud a few times through until your ears ring. Lay around. Don't worry if you don't make sense. Song lyrics are different from poems and don't have to rhyme to sound good. Mispronounce, slur, spell, and twist words anyway you want to in order to make them marketable.

3. Start working out a hook. The hook is 'what you're selling'. It can be one word, like "diet" or two words like "sit ups" or one phrase like "I couldn't possibly eat another piece of fudge marble cake". Do several lines while you are closing down the bars.

4. Use the most common marketable formula possible: intro, verse, verse, chorus, bridge, the collision/instrument solo, and outro. People like that. Your verses sound alike; same shi$ but different words. In your other hand, is the chorus; something completely different altogether. Next is the bridge: a structure built to span physical obstacles such as a body of water, valley, or road, for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacle. Designs vary depending on their function, the terrain, the material used to make it and the funds available to build it. Then, it's onto the collision: an isolated event in which two or more moving bodies exert relatively strong forces on each other for a relatively short time. Now you can exit, baby. Walk out of that bad-a$$ song with your proudest Cleveland-a$$ strut. You've earned it. You are a song-writing peacock!

5. Now start writing! Start with a verse and then write another. That's half the song! Keep working until you come up with something marketable.

6. Put the verses, chorus, etc, together like a problem or enigma that tests the ingenuity of the listener and uses the music like a ouija board.

7. Now sing your completed song like a bird belonging to the suborder Passeri of the perching birds along with your music and listen critically for things you can change or adjust to make them more marketable. Sometimes subtle changes like adding the word fuck make a world of difference.

8. Don't worry if you're not a singer. The idea is to sell this to someone who can sing and get it aired on Idol. Thankfully, most millionaire songwriters' inability to sing is overshadowed by their ability to market their songs.

9. Have fun watching the money roll in and remember: never count your money when you're sitting at the table. The best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep.

Definitely wondering where a couple of top names are... but oh well. I guess they are no longer interested in opening for the national acts that Royal Columbus brings to the city on a monthly basis. Some artists don't realize the opportunity that they are giving up. In every other city that I've ever known, hip hop artists are forced to pay a lot of money to open for the same level of talent.

This competition is set up in order to bring our hip hop scene to the next level and get local talent on the radio like in many other cities. If it doesn't go well and generate the traffic needed, those doors will once again close.
