Midpoint Music Festival (Sin City)

How's this thing usually go? This is our first year. I'm looking forward to it, but do the veterans of the bunch have any advice for making things run smoothly (or how to make sure your gear doesn't get stolen

)?

We always load it into the hotel room when in doubt...or...load into the club and hang out there until we play. We're covert when we're out of town. We rent minivans and get absolutely obliterated. We're all 100 years old. No one ever suspects we'll get onstage. Just go incognito.

last year: free burritos, free red bull, and accidentally hitting cop cars in the too small parking lot. that's all you need to know.

Last year we got booked in an all-hip-hop venue. The patrons there were all hyped to see "Wiggly Pussy", thinking it was a strip show.

We pounded a big rusty nail of death through that place. I drank a jug of wine and fell off the stage onto a table of thugs. Yep, it was a good'n.

For real, though...we made some really good contacts last year that have resulted in a number of good things this year--a national radio campaign, MTV licensed the album for their crappy TV shows...the conferences are definitely a good way to meet people.

I wish that MPMF would update the site so everyone can know who is playing on the same bill....

We just started playing these fests and are quickly getting tired... this will be the first one that we've played in a town where we have an existing fanbase. Recent fests in Harrisburg and Toronto were fun but rather uneventful.

"Holmes, the Heat Director" has been chosen to appear on another compilation disc: The Midpoint Music Festival compilation. There's a release party for the CD taking place on Wednesday, September 22 at Jefferson Hall on main street in Cincinnati.
