Butch is the producer behind a lot of big-name WNCI artists like Katy Perry and Pink and stuff, but he’s also been putting out records on his own since hair band SouthGang in the 80s, then Marvelous 3, then solo stuff for the past 10 years or so.

Walker also recruited Columbus/Galion ex-pat Mark Stepro (Madison Square Gardeners, Ben Kweller, Tim Easton, JP Olsen) to sit behind the kit on this tour, so say hey to an Ohio boy done good if you see him.

Singer Alex Dezen is the only original member of the band and, for that matter, there really isn’t a band, per se, any more. Touring to support the excellent 2011 release, No One Listens to the Band Anymore, Alex is backed by the opening band, Harper Blynn, rather than his longtime trusty sidekicks, the guys that Columbus got to know and love so well during the middle part of the last decade.

Jerry DeCicca (The Black Swans) & Adam Remnant (Southeast Engine) will be playing a string of intimate and all-acoustic house shows throughout July. It will be a unique tour of two critically acclaimed modern songwriters in an unparalleled environment.

These performances will bring back the intimacy large venues lack, holding only 40-50 guests, no sound systems or amps – simply two artists and their instruments. It is an ideal environment to showcase DeCicca & Remnant’s talent and power in a truly special way.

Bazan is touring with a full band that includes Andy Fitts (bass) and Alex Westcoat (drums), the same guys who helped him record his latest, Strange Negotiations. Bazan came to Columbus for a Clintonville living room show in the winter of ’09, and then with a band at the Basement last March. Nick Nocera of Alison Rose made this awesome poster for it:

NPR is streaming Times New Viking’s new album, Dancer Equired, out a week from Tuesday (4/26) on Merge Records. RJD2 dropped the Inversions of the Colossus a few weeks ago. It has unreleased joints, as well as remixes, and instrumentals off of the Colossus.
