Pretty soon the former Germain Amphitheater — a concert venue that’s become a haven for graffiti writers — will be redeveloped. From the Dispatch:

The long-vacant and graffiti-covered Germain Amphitheater and surrounding acreage has been purchased for $5.5 million by Polaris-area developer NP Limited.

The developer has long had its eye on the 90-acre property, which went on the market in 2006, about a year before the final concert at the Far North Side amphitheater that once drew big crowds to see country music and rock ’n’ roll’s biggest stars.

“We looked at it several times in the past, but could never get comfortable with the price,” said Franz Geiger, managing director of NP Limited, developer of the area known as the Polaris Centers of Commerce. “Then, the opportunity was right to buy it at what we thought was a fair price.”

In addition to the $5.5 million sale price, Geiger said there were about $1 million in additional costs for taxes and other fees owed by the owner of the property, Live Nation, a California-based entertainment company. (full story

At this year’s Daymon Day people painted a mural that honored deceased local icons and members of the community Daymon Dodson,  DJ Przm, “E”, Camu Tao, Todd Minton and Andyman on the back of a handball court at Tuttle Park in Columbus, Ohio.

“Playboy” Trav Dave sent me this mp3 of himself, J. Osceola, Freddie Mac, and Bronx emcee Anti ripping a raw track. Trav has been around the Columbus Rap community for a grip and runs with J.Rawls and the Usual Suspect dudes.
His verse is at the end, and manages to include a Lil B reference in a song called “Lyrical Accountant”. All jokes all aside..real rap…protect your neck.. live at the bbq style.
Extra points for the rhyme, “some artists need to pay homage, I remember when you used to get your Jordan’s from Muhammad.”

In the greatest team-up since KMD’s and Brand Nubian’s “Nitty Gritty” Milk N Syrup, and Weightless are on the same track. Okay is nothing like that song but it is still nice to think about.
The song is produced by Path from All Eyes Path. It starts off unassuming and sparse and develops into something special. The email I got for this song said it was “untitled” so it may not be called “My City”.
Regardless, the song is off of “the Art Show” Fabrashay’s upcoming album. It’s dope and if you don’t download then hopefully you don’t listen to rap and are just waiting for more pictures of bearded men playing ukelalees.

Sidenote:Besides catching Zerostar at “get right, getting right” you can also catch him hosting “Grindtime 2 I Still Get it in Ohio” it is an emcee battle October 16th at Skullys.
