You may be fan of Brooklyn synth outfit Class Actress (frontwoman Elizabeth Harper and producers Mark Richardson and Scott Rosenthal). Perhaps you are unfamiliar. Either way, you will love listening to this mixtape they assembled:
Doesn’t Really Matter – Janet Jackson
Un-thinkable (i’m ready) – Alicia Keys
Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time) – The Delfonics
The Things You Said – Depeche Mode
Only the Lonely – Roy Orbison
Nothing Compares 2 U – Sinead O’Connor
Gymnopedie No.1 – Erik Satie
Corcovado – Joao Gilberto and Stan Getz
Slave to Love – Bryan Ferry
Yeah?! Steal the playlist next time you are trying to show a girl you know more about music than Wu–Tang and A$ap Rocky…. Now that Class Actress has your attention…Maybe check them out on the road. Some are headlining dates. Some dates are with Chairlift. Others are with Of Montreal.
After the jump, check out the tourdates, and the Brooklyn group’s song The Weekend which sounds like it was produced by Jelly Bean Benitez if he was trying to make a Depeche Mode song for Madonna.

This is sort of strange. Van Halen “announcing” a 2012 tour? No dates. No mention about a release date for a new album. No snippets of new songs in the video. Will this really happen or is this stunt going to backfire?

I don’t know if fanboy would be the correct nomenclature to describe my affinity for Rival Schools frontman Walter Schreilfels, and I don’t think nostalgia would do the man justice. The fact of the matter is, the now defunct “post-hardcore” band Quicksand, which Schreifels also fronted, is one of my favorite bands of all time and I was only able to catch them twice. I’ve yet to see Rival Schools, which I would essentially describe as a more mature, poppier Quicksand and if memory serves (which these days it does occasionally) they are yet to headline Columbus, which is what they are doing Thursday evening at the Basement, on tour for release “Pedals”.
I’ll be the asshole shouting out Quicksand song titles until I’m forcibly dragged out.

Columbus rapper Envelope announced today that he will be celebrating the release of his new EP This Could Go Either Way by touring 8 Columbus Record Stores on October 15th. The stores are listed above.
These shows are free and all ages.
I’ve been calling it the “We Are Coming to You” tour.
This Could Go Either Way is produced by Jacoti Sommes and is being released on Envelope’s new label, Palais Du Pomeroi , a joint venture with Columbus Discount Records’s Adam Smith.
The recording process was really unique and will be explored in the future here on donewaiting.
