Photos: Tim Kasher & band live at Double Happiness

Tim Kasher of Cursive played Double Happiness this past Saturday! I was totally unaware of this new venue in the Brewery District until finding out about this show. Turns out it’s been open a couple months and Bright Eyes had their after party here for their opening night party. Once inside I realized I had patronized the venue a few times when it was a Lotus Bar. Anyway, 482 S. Front St. is now a music venue now and I hope they continue having class acts!

Please excuse my one position photo spot. Being such a fangirl of Tim Kasher, I needed to be right in front the entire show.

A while back we brought in Tim Kasher of Cursive for a Live at Electraplay session, and it turned out pretty great. He’ll be back in town this Saturday, playing a set at Double Happiness with Aficionado and the Something Somethings.

MP3: Tim Kasher – Just Don’t Get Caught (Live at Electraplay)

Sometimes when you put a mic in front of an indie musician and tell him to talk, it’s like he’s never seen a mic before. Suddenly, talking about a song’s meaning or origin is akin to destroying the song. (This doesn’t happen with hip-hop artists.) So it’s refreshing when a guy like Tim Kasher of Cursive is willing and ready to talk about how a song came into being. Check out the preambles to the single-song videos, or at the bottom of the post for the full-length interview.

Tim Kasher’s The Game of Monogamy is out now on Saddle Creek ($5 at Amazon). Continue reading

Tim Kasher(Cursive/The Good Life) in Columbus at the Summit October 7th

YouTube Preview Image

Since Dead Prez has us playing “what music did poly-sci majors listen to in 2002?”, why not mention Tim Kasher of Cursive/the Good life will be in Columbus, October 7th.

Now, I have no idea what those bands sound like. But I do know there is something about star tattoos, lots of girls, and my friends making fun of me.

Hopefully, some other member of the Donewaiting staff knows who this is will do a better write-up.

But  from this you-tube video Tim seems like this guy is prolly alright and deserves to make money.

this being presented by Sweatin and Yalan and appeals to appeal to a decent amount of people.  Transit Transit, and Apeture open.

check the facebook for more info

looks like if you are a doo-gooder and friends with James Payne, you will be able to go to the Delusions of Eating Show, and then go see the guy from Cursive. What a night!!

Cursive: New Album, SXSW Appearances

MP3: From the Hips by Cursive

Ever since I saw them in January, I’ve once again caught Cursive fever. Their set was great, and after giving their new album a listen, I’m back in. Their new album is released physically next week, but you can purchase it today at Saddle Creek for only $1! After today, the price increases a buck every day until release. (Seems like the Saddle Creek website is getting pounded right now, so have patience)

Cursive’s official SXSW show is 3/20/09 @ 1am at Radio Room. Click here to see the shows they’ll be doing while in Austin.

The band is also on Twitter.

Columbus Sells Out

A rare week of many sold out shows in Columbus is in progress. This past weekend saw two sold out Girl Talk shows, last night Cursive sold out, The Sword is sold out on Sunday at Ravari, and tomorrow’s “Where’s the Band?” event at The Basement is as well.

PS: Cursive last night was amazing. I hadn’t seen them in a few years and they slayed.
