Soundcloud: Done Waiting

Cleveland’s Cloud Nothings have certainly been on the DW radar of late, what with their appearance at this fall’s Ohio Film + Music Fest and a new album recorded by Steve Albini slated for release in January. However, the band’s Joe Boyer (also of Total Babes) has just upped the ante with his new side project, Chomp. This week our friends at Exit Stencil Records announced that a full-length Chomp album is tentatively planned for April, and gave us the first Chomp track for the world to hear, called…Done Waiting. An uplifting pop gem that instantly earned a place in our hearts. At the end of the day, aren’t we all just done waiting?

Cleveland’s Exit Stencil Records are on a bit of a roll lately. I wrote about one of their bands a few weeks ago, Hot Cha Cha, and the label was recently profiled in CMJ. On top of that, the new album (Take Shape) they’ve released by The Dreadful Yawns is something I can’t seem to stop playing. Here’s two songs from it:

MP3: J’accuse

I caught Cleveland’s Hot Cha Cha the other night at Carabar. I enjoyed their set, but I’m a little concerned. The lead singer performed barefoot onstage and also jumped down in the crowd to dance/perform… I just hope she got her tetanus shots……. Ouchie.

Their debut EP is available via Exit Stencil Records.
