As for the Basketball portion of the event, CJ Townsend organized a basketblog tourney, in which Team Donewaiting (DJ True Skills, Aleks Shaulov,Andrew Patton, and myself) will compete with Weedsteeler, Agit Reader, Milk Bar, Embassy, Kings Rowe,Central City Recordings, and The Grip for a warm case of PBR.
The bball tourney will be from 12 to 5 at Tuttle Park, Saturday 9-19. The Daymon Day Parade is scheduled to start at Tuttle Park @ 8pm.

Fly Union have this drinking squad called the “Rossi Posse”. It centers around drinking Rossi. I think thats why they have drink special at Whud-Up Wednesdays that involves Rossi. Not Sure. But its inexpensive and comes in a large quantity.
Above is a shaky video of a Fly Union and DJ Giovanny putting people down with the Rossi Posse on the Red Bull Party Bus that CJ Townsend hooked up last month. We basically rolled around drinking in a bus while CJ played various musics, including “Gold Chain” by Fly Union, a song thats has been popular on the blogs.

Actually, these two new songs aren’t really on a jovial party tip. The first MP3 has Jerreau doing a twist on the Welcome to Marcy/Come Home With Me type song. Usually when cats discuss the bleak outlook living in the hood creates then no morals becomes the moral. Usually a message of ”get money by any means” results from the depiction of a grim reality. Jerreau’s point deviates from this idea on the premise that he just can’t do joints like that because of what he has witnessed.
Jerreau weaves a discussion about his 14 year-old cousin getting shot in with the prison industry, the media, Columbus Public Schools, the war in Iraq and a general idea of genocide through negligence.
The second song has Jerreau going over Kanye’s “Say You Will” detailing an on & off relationship. It’s got some details that are fairly new hipsterblog developments on this sort of love song. He talks about buying limited SB dunks to relieve the stress. Stalking facebook is also mentioned alongside traditional heartbreak themes of ‘got a new girl but miss you’.
I thought about going to Jerreau’s Facebook to try to figure out who the girl was. But I have no idea on how to use facebook for any reason other than to approve random photos of myself. After getting distracted by a Chedda Gets Chedder banner I decided to just listen to the songs instead.
Jerreau, I will leave you a comment saying that I saw Lebron James salute a dejay for playing a Fly Union song if that will help you any bee.

It may be difficult wrap your head around this tape if you aren’t from Columbus. See Columbus really loves Gucci Mane, and Dipset. Trap rap has run downtown nightclub Culture (white and black) for as long I can remember being willing go to nightclubs with the insurance I would not have to hear drum n bass or jungle. We hate ravers. We like hard shit. And we like comedy. And this ain’t irony. Except when Detox brings back Rick Ross saying working with the police and over and over again. But you know what. As Fly Union gears for up the release of their next album, “You’re Welcome”, the Columbus group has decided to give their first comp, “Kill Fly U!” away for free to the internets. You can hear a real Neptunes, and Jay-z influence on this but its still pretty fresh. Play “Dumb Down” loudly.
The techies over at HipHopcolumbus.com put up video of The Catalyst’s release party. Its got clips of Envelope doing “Motivation” and “Daydream Nation” off his upcoming album Sharkbolt, dropping June 7th. There is footie of Fly Union doing their curseless version of the “Fuck the Police” mantra called “Hate The Five-O”. Of course, The Catalyst rounds out the videos boasting about how will fuck your girl and insult your mystery god. 400 people attended this event. The Next Ups did good.

Cleveland often gets a rep for being a location of pure misery. But things may be looking up. About 4 Years ago it quietly the Land started standing out as the best city for graffiti in Ohio due to the efforts of the Droids, BHS, and TKO. William “Upski” Wimsatt predicted this would happen in his book, Bomb the Suburbs. More recently, Mick Boogie, Chemical Kickdrums, Chipper the Ripper, and Fat Al, have started an upswing in Cleveland Hip Hop. So when I heard Diplo was coming to Cleveland to redeem himself for the worse show experience in his life, I was mad curious. Do people actually have fun in Cleveland these days?
Detox, the roadtrip only homie William,myself and Dkline hopped in the whip, and headed up to see how C-Town Rides in 0-infinity.
Diplo is freakin coming to Cleveland,Ohio, February 7th. Diplo, who has no worries of me trying to hump his extremely talented but mediocre looking boo/ex-boo? M.I.A.(who will be MIA as in not at this show) is playing at the B-Side Liquor Lounge in Conventry. DJ Blaqstarr is opening…. But but wait its gets better. Columbus’ Fly Union is also opening. After catching them last month at the Embassy Video Premiere…. I can see them fitting a Cool Kids steez, sorta. I mean they do have a song on the the New Mick Boogie/Benzi/Urb Magazine Mixtape.
