Weakened Wrap-up #21: Bloggers gonna Blog

Pictured: Nick Tolford and Company@GenWex presents: Off the Grid

Perhaps I’ve said it before (no way I’m trudging through those old posts) and If I haven’t, I’m saying it now. I’m a bringer togetherer, make it happennerer and a motherfucking idea factory. Basically what I’m saying is let’s all be cool, hang out and high five-you know? Life’s too short to not be a cool motherfucker!

In this blogisode, I pretty much ran myself ragged but I had a fuuuucking blast. Mouth of the Architect slayed, I somehow found time to check out a couple CD101 day Big Room performances, GenWex presents put on a killer benefit called Off the Grid with a bunch of awesome food and good looking people, Nick Tolford and Company made the crowd wet (myself included), The Hood Internet rocked the joint hard, I managed to catch a couple Brainbow songs at Carabar, did shots with Ron and jammed to some Team Tim Trivia (y’all gotta get on this).

Weakened Wrap-up # 20: Bloggin Ain’t Easy

Pictured: Puscifer@LC

Look, Life really is what you make it and as dumb and silly and boring and rehashed and cliche as that sounds, that’s the way the cookie crumbles brother. I really have been on a pretty intense YEAH! LIFE! YEAH! IT IS COOL! don’t sweat the small stuff kinda trip and it’s great. Let’s hang out, I will make you LOL. Life’s to short to be boring and stupid. Everyone should be cool and fun instead. Life should be more Celestine Prophecy and less 48 Laws of Power. Gnome sayin?

I totally forgot what is was like to get excited for shows and I totally forgot what kind of a bummer it is when a band cancels. Yes, let’s talk about the bands. I saw some doozies! Shilpa Ray and her Happy Hookers, Phantods, Ghost Shirt, The Altered States of the United Snakes, ipps, not Goes Cube (super bummed), Puscifer (Maynard James Motherfucking Keenan) and I even caught a David Bazan song or two. (I know right). 1-2-3-go! Read more! After the jump! Continue reading

Saturday in Columbus: Ipps, Goes Cube, More

Did ipps practice? Will there be two drummers? Will Mike O be those drummers? Will Bo Davis be drunk? Will you be drunk? (I will be.)

Are you going to kick yourself because you didn’t know how awesome Goes Cube is? Is Post-Everything really a genre? Are you going to buy a copy of “Another Has Passed” after you realize how awesome Goes Cube is?

Are The Altered States of the United Snakes really a band?

Exactly how far East of the Wall?

You be the judge! On Saturday! At Carabar!

Proof that Goes Cube is what I said they are after the jump! Continue reading

Weakened Wrap-up #19: Keep it 666 (Scion Rock Fest Edition)

Pictured: Pelican Live at the Scion Rock Fest (Skully’s)

Lateness disclosure: I didn’t wanna mess with Texas

O.K, O.K I think I’m finally over that saddy sad seasonal affective disorder nonsense and I’m super stoked for life all over again (oh man) and boy howdy, the Scion Rock Fest was the bee’s knees AND the cat’s pajamas no shit. I’ve also been speaking more freely and talking to anyone who will listen. It’s basically like listening to a live stream of my brain (stuttering=buffering). Seriously though, it was really fucking cool and I totally had a blast.

Vice and Scion did a rad job with this and it really did go off without a hitch. It was awesome to see the Short North crawling with stoked metal dudes. My only gripe really was that it wasn’t all in one spot, but that’s really here nor there because the way it was set up totally worked. You know the drill—–> Continue reading

Weakened Wrap-up #18: Ima Pick this Blog up and Ima Drop it on your F**kin Head!

Pictured: Warpaint@Summit

Rebirth motherfucker! Yeah, here we go again. A TON of cool shit has happened since we last got together in this official capacity and I’m not gonna tell you anything about it! I will tell you that Duffy made me take some online journalism and creative writing and photography courses while I was on hiatus and as you’re about to see it did absolutely no good!

I will also tell you I picked a good week to decide to start doing this crap again. Super Desserts, Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s, Guinea Worms, Warpaint, Don B, and of course, Mike O! If you are at all inclined to listen to a bitter, old, hateful, cynical and all around super cool and totally nice dude’s rant about, you know, stuff, you know what to do! Continue reading

Puscifer to play two Ohio dates in March

YouTube Preview Image
Puscifer: The Mission

The ever-prolific Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle) brings his latest musical endeavor, Puscifer, to his home state not once, but twice in the month of March. The first one takes place at the Lorain Palace Theatre on March 21 in Lorain and the second takes place on March 28 in Columbus at The Lifestyle Communities Pavilion. Ohio boys Uncle Scratch’s Gospel Revival and “the world’s worst stand-up comedian” Neil Hamburger open the Columbus show.

Puscifer have managed to, for the most part, not sound like APC or Tool. That is, until their most recent release, “C” Is for (Please Insert Sophomoric Genitalia Reference HERE)”. Check out “Polar Bear” and “Humbling River” on Myspace for further proof.

$250 meet and greet info after the jump! Continue reading

Weakened Wrap-up #15: 99 Problems but a Blog Ain’t One

Pictured: CDR Company Picnic

Whatever…if money grew on trees I would be a money tree farmer. So I pretty much don’t have much of an opening rant so I’m going to take this opportunity to plug the gay little website that my gay little brother is part of. It’s called find Fred and it’s basically a gay eharmony/myspace/facebook/adultfriendfinder. Feel free to become a member and/or tell your friends because the sooner he starts getting money, the sooner he can start giving it to me. Also, my brother from another mother and his wife just opened up a baby boutique in Clintonville called Lottie Da so go buy stuff from them if you aren’t gonna try to find Fred.

Oh man i did some runnin’. I bet you can’t wait to hear about it. There was Dungen, Dude Locker Fest, The Entrance Band, CDRBQVI and Mr. Dibbs and a whole buncha crap happened or something. More crap crap crap after the jump jump jump! Continue reading
