Rebirth motherfucker! Yeah, here we go again. A TON of cool shit has happened since we last got together in this official capacity and I’m not gonna tell you anything about it! I will tell you that Duffy made me take some online journalism and creative writing and photography courses while I was on hiatus and as you’re about to see it did absolutely no good!

I will also tell you I picked a good week to decide to start doing this crap again. Super Desserts, Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s, Guinea Worms, Warpaint, Don B, and of course, Mike O! Bird and Flower’s current live line-up features Erik (from Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos) on lap steel, Tyler (Couch Fort/Super Desserts) on banjo, Dan (Miranda Sound) on cello/bass drum, Justin on harmonium/bass drum/omnichord, and Eve on ukulele/omnichord/freestyle tambourine. On Saturday, they did this great cover of Madonna’s “Borderline”.

Sunken Treasure is releasing the Bird and Flower debut album on vinyl in July. More details coming soon.

It’s a surprisingly busy Sunday in Columbus for great music. If you play your cards right, you might be able to hit all three of these events because of their varied start times.

Over at Used Kids, The Cusacks are reissuing their 2002 album More Songs From Vagabondia. It’s remixed, remastered, and there’s new packaging. Kyle Sowash and Super Desserts are also playing this free show that’ll have free pizza too. This starts at 5pm. Full details here.

EARLY
Doors open at 6pm for the Columbus return of Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos@ Skullys. They’re celebrating the release of their new albums, and I think this is the first time they’re playing in town since former Columbus and Tiara dude Erik Kang has been a part of the band. Also playing this show is David Vandervelde and Judgement Day.

NOT LATE
Starting promptly at 8pm is the Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise at the Wexner Center. Featuring people from all your favorite E6 bands, this event is sure to be one for the books.
