Southeast Engine: New EP, Columbus presence, Megacity slot

Some news from one of Donewaiting’s faves, Southeast Engine. First, on July 31 the band is releasing a new EP titled Canaanville, which they describe as “a 4-song appendix EP designed to accompany Canary. Both albums are thematically based around Appalachian Ohio during The Great Depression. Canaanville is not, however, B-Sides or outtakes.” Stream “Old Oak Tree” above. You can pre-order the EP in the form of a T-shirt album (i.e. digital album + SEE T-shirt).

Also, Jesse Remnant – SEE bassist, harmony vocalist and brother to singer Adam Remnant — recently relocated to Columbus, which means he won’t have far to drive when the band headlines the White Stage at the Megacity Music Marathon June 9 at Woodlands Tavern. (SEE plays at 12:30am). Jesse also has his own project called The Human Cannonball. Hopefully this means we’ll get more Southeast Engine AND Human Cannonball shows here in Columbus.

Side note: SEE’s members now represent Athens, Dayton and Columbus. And Morgantown, W.V., but we’ll let that slide…

Photos: Megacity Music Marathon

This past Saturday Woodland’s Tavern in Grandview and PBR hosted the Megacity Music Marathon. This event was held with over 30 bands on 3 stages which I’m sure one of my donewaiting comrades will elaborate on.

These photos include Flotation Walls, Swimsuit Edition, TK Webb, Kyle Sowashes, Andrew Graham, Nick Tolford, You’re so Bossy, Bird & Flower, Chris McCoy, The Bygones, Tin Armor, The Lindsay, Saintseneca, Tree of Snakes and Bigfoot.

MP3: Bill Fox – Appalachian Death Sigh

As we’ve mentioned previously, Bob Miller’s PBR-sponsored Megacity festival debuts this Saturday (9/10) at Woodlands Tavern, and it’s a reunion-heavy lineup: 84 Nash, The Cusacks, The Bygones, Bigfoot, plus the original lineup of Tree of Snakes and Chris McCoy‘s first Columbus show in a year. Bill Fox is coming down from Cleveland, Wussy and the Seedy Seeds are coming up from Cincinnati, Kevin Failure of Pink Reason is coming from his overseas tour (where apparently he broke some ribs).Plus plenty of other great Columbus bands, many of whom have something special planned for Saturday.

Also, I wrote a story for this week’s Other Paper about Megacity and the other two music fests coming up in the next two weeks, Music Week Columbus and Independents’ Day.

Here’s the full lineup and set times for Megacity’s three stages (two indoor, one outdoor):
