Shit was bonkers. Envelope and I got there around midnight and DCKareem had to waive us in because Skullys was its capacity so there was a line-of people waiting for people that were leaving to have sexual intercourse to allow fashionable late party peoples entrance in  pursuit of Columbus’ finest entertainment option.

When we got inside were really happy at how rowdy things were. Shit was bonkers, hood, ham, righteous, rad, trill, awesome, gully, whatever you want to say. There was a frenzy led by Human Boy Dirtnap.

As mentioned before, Daymon Day will be returning to Tuttle Park 9-19-09. For more info on Daymon Day, and its parade, please read 614 Magazine’s article on the event. 614 interviewed Envelope, Daymon’s mom Judy and myself for the article.

As for the Basketball portion of the event, CJ Townsend organized a basketblog tourney, in which Team Donewaiting (DJ True Skills, Aleks Shaulov,Andrew Patton, and myself) will compete with Weedsteeler, Agit Reader, Milk Bar, Embassy, Kings Rowe,Central City Recordings, and The Grip for a warm case of PBR.

The bball tourney will be from 12 to 5 at Tuttle Park, Saturday 9-19. The Daymon Day Parade is scheduled to start at Tuttle Park @ 8pm.

(the grudge match right now is between Weedsteeler and the Grip. Or perhaps Weedsteeler and itself)

The first time I hung out with Jessica Morgan she was giving me a ride to Dirtnap and Johnny Cashola’s from Club Carma. She pulled up the corner, turned down the random Gucci Mane song and yelled to a group of black doods, “Oh no, the blue-eyed white devil has me. I can’t help it. They eat pussy. That’s their tricknology. Damn devils.” Then she peeled out. After I turned rouge from the embarrassment, I decided girl could be Sarah Silvermen x 9 ether. Makes sense.

She is Thought Set (The Catalyst, Meta4c,Envelope etc). Almost a year later Jessica approached me at Dipset Night at Spice and told me she followed my blog when she was away at school at NYU, and told me I should put her on. She was already goof-balling on the Get Right Blog as Jessica the Gawd. When she approached that night, Jessica was rocking a Barbara Kruger shirt she copped at the Pictures Generation show at the Met with my homegirl Caitlin, something about all that made me be like, ‘ www.donewaiting.com understands you babygirl‘ and then we pinky swore to be besties. This Get Right review is her first blog but believe me she will around town for the next few weeks. Jessica Morgan is the person in this picture that isn’t me.

When I think of the Spice Bar certain things come to mind; douche bag guys in bad clothes and their annoying cokehead girlfriends standing around being pretentious or drunkenly dancing to shitty Flow-Rida songs and spilling my drink. Those assholes were in for a rude awakening when the Milk Bar’s Get Right took the place over for its 2 year anniversary party; Get Right shut shit down providing three rooms of DJs playing a variety of music.

I found it hilarious to see aforementioned douche bags get run out of the bar by the post Bernie’s crowd turned new wave avant-garde, graffiti kids and all of the standard high street area players.

While I am sure that there were still cornucopias of cocaine consumed, at least Spice Bar was filled with way better music provided by Get Right’s very own Cashola and Detox. I heard some oldies but goodies like Master P’s “Make Em Say Uuuuuhhhh “as well as one of my personal favorites M.O.P’s “Ante Up”. Cashola even played Spencer Pratt’s new single “I am a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here”, an inside little joke for those people that frequent the Get Right Blog.

I also had an opportunity to go “Swag Surfing”, and of course they played one of the Get Right anthems Soulja Boy’s “Turn My Swag On”. Dirt Nap even got on the mic hyping up the crowd and taking the party to a level of debauchery that only Get Right can provide. I don’t think I have ever seen Spice Bar packed with people that I don’t entirely detest. Kareem got topless too, which was a plus. I hope to see more toplessness at the next Get Right.

Martin Weiland describes their new projects as thus:

this project is a purely masturbatory, monthly, joint effort between shawn and i, that we use to make ourselves think/ work/ design outside of our comfort zone and outside of the way we do on a daily basis in a professional setting. we put it together in one night (the cover title). there are no revisions. the first attempt is what gets sent to print. that is the main unifying concept of the series. the content is made up of images that are collected and created through the month, up until the night we lay the book out. the series deals with many ideas, including, but not limited too: making “poor design choices” , the enlargement of color, humor and inside jokes, ideas of copyright and ownership, creating new realities, digital vs. manual, experimentation with objectionable images/symbols, the internet, the corporate work environment, predicting the future, modern forms of communication, and the ideas of sale-ablity and un-sale-ability.

Ok. When I was in 8th grade I kinda fronted on the Meatmen. I was SXE listening to Minor Threat & the Dead Kennedys next to Public Enemy & Poor Righteous Teachers so song titles like “Lesbo Death Dirge”, “French People Suck,” and “Camel Jockeys Suck” didn’t mesh well with my dogma.
Nowadays, anytime I hear the Meatmen, I smile. I mean right now what would you rather hear Jello Biafra over surf guitars or Tesco Vee insulting most things?
Meatmen are playing at Bernies. This is technically the best thing going on tonight.
Hopefully M.O.D. or Lee Ving come to Columbus soon.

But odds are I end up @ Yellofever @ Hamptons(formerly known as B.Hamptons.

Yellofever are playing Lollapooloza this year and also have a prty called Rehab in Chicago. They make remixes that Adulture & CJ Townsend play. So good vibes and youth will be in air. While I should go to the Meatmen. Hamptons has a patio that won’t be filled with people that spent the whole day at the bloodbank so they can buy merch so it will be more comfortable.

DC Kareem & Scotty are launching a new six week series called Vegetate tonight. Cj Townsend & Scotty are dejaying.
DFly is supposed to be catering some neo-v foodstuffs.

The number one phrase. The only phrase that has counted is Get Your Mind Right. It’s Scientology with results instead of aliens. If not “Shh, lady, Gargle”.

So When DCKareem of the number one sex shop Milk Bar teamed with Columbus’ most versatile deejaay Detox, and Johnnny Cashola (who is known to be a part of fashionable society because of his or her regular participation in social activities and fondness for spending a significant amount of time entertaining and being entertained) linked up to make a dance party that is soo Columbus, soo well-respected; it was only a matter time they put a mixtape on smash.

It may be difficult wrap your head around this tape if you aren’t from Columbus. See Columbus really loves Gucci Mane, and Dipset. Trap rap has run downtown nightclub Culture (white and black) for as long I can remember being willing go to nightclubs with the insurance I would not have to hear drum n bass or jungle. We hate ravers. We like hard shit. And we like comedy. And this ain’t irony. Except when Detox brings back Rick Ross saying working with the police and over and over again. But you know what. Rick Ross works with the police.

So when the intro starts off with Hell Rell lecturing someone about not being the best out. Remember the best out..

They were the best out. Goes into the Jeezy anthem, “Bitch Get Your Mind Right:” You might be like..in Columbus the smartest people on earth watch Killa Season constantly and listen to 4 year-old rap songs? What is this 03?

But this shit is really funny and in tune with what people like here. Go to Club Ice and say you don’t hear “Came Down” by Cleveland’s Fat Al. Do people like dancing to “Dopeman” by Gucci yessir. Do people dance to “Do The Down the Way” here. Naw. But thats a Cincy anthem. So consider yourself educated on what urban radio may or may not play but people like.

The joke about Columbus is that blog Bmore dejays are tolerated because of the off chance they may play “Wipe Me Down”, which may or may not indicate we are assbackwards or really cool.
The only time this tape gets into so-called hipster land, don’t worry, it’s me snitches. Detox blended Hood N with terrorist anthem Paper Planes it’s cause DW said so. It’s complete with me making machine gun, laser and stab noises. I made kissy noises to but they got go nh’d. Other exclusive offerings include a J-Swifa/Catalyst freestyle in which Bo makes the only Oedipus complex reference on the mixtape, IOK Drama 3 and a Pillz/Saved by the Bell Blend.

So put on the mix that puts on for your city, on for your city and think about think the “Chickenhead” that should have paid her lightbill, but instead bought an outfit. This mix exists as funny, irreverant, document of an aspect of Columbus that is long overdo.

Wale came to Columbus this week. The DC rapper had just announced that Interscope had signed him. Bun B, Pharrell, Kanye, Lil Wayne would be fucking with him on his album. Wale had been rolling with Marc Ronson for awhile and had a strong buzz.

So I was kinda curious what that translates to on a 12-15 dollar ticket in Columbus,Ohio. We are 2.5 kids and dog and all. Coke Zero and Clear Pepsi didn’t test well. But we did invent the digital screen that tells you how much your Wendy’s is. So I guess we are a good gauge of whats gonna fly between the coasts.

Thanks for the free tickets Scooby. I popped in after receiving a text from Cashola saying that ravers were losing but Wale was about to go on. I guess there was some techno playing that the crowd wasn’t feeling. I bumped in J-Swifa from Fly Union immeadetley who asked me if I saw Fly.dot performance. I said I was at Skylab, watching artistic types. He told me I lost, cause Fly U. killed it. From what I gathered there had been some underground rap types, turntablism, Fly Union, and then some techno. I don’t know if it was French, house, Bmore or just straight Rofl at Ravers tink tonk. So my level of losing is still unclear.

Anyway. Wale hit the stage and it was live as fuck. Being able to rap and rapping over G0-G0 and other dance musics is really good fucking idea. Rapping over dance music is a really good idea. You could seriously walk up to any female you know, and they would dance with and try to kiss you.You would be dancing and realize that it was with your mans ex-gf and dip to the next girl.You could tell one girl in front other that she needed to kick rocks cause she wasn’t as pretty as the tender you were talking to.

Heck, I pulled one girl that was hugging up on me into the mens restroom, and then dipped on her. It was funny to watch her look confused at the men pissing in urinals as I ran out.

Another got on my nerves so I mushed her face. Like “naw, beat it.” Ask Catalyst or Dynamik. It was funny.

Why? She flirts and says racist shit. She calls blacks brownies. I have never even heard that racial slur. Racism doesn’t get my dick hard unless it comes from Anne Courter. It’s corny. Later when she was flirting, I told her my mans and them(not Catalyst or Dynamik) would only talk to her if she gave them head. Not because I am creep. But because it was true. I would add the adlib, “jokes like Sarah Silvermen”. My dood dissappeared with her. Yaow. took her on a trip to Gucci World.

My point is that Wale being able to rap and and rapping over dance music is a really good idea because it makes girls have fun. Cam interpolated Cindy Lauper on Purple Haze about this idea.

All praises to Wale & Catchdubs. He was onstage pitching patterns with a DC drawl over MIA, and Justice.

When Catchdubs dropped the beat for “Nike Boots” that is on the Lil Wayne’s “Da Drought 5″ mixtape shit got even more bonkers. Wale exuded excellence to a sea of estrogen. He said peace to Harlem and the Dipset phenomenon. Even though I was rocking vegan Vans(peace to Embassy), I still screamed that I got them on like he has them on.

Catchdubs cut out the beat to “Nike Boots” and amped it up further with Dead Prez’s “bigger than Hip Hop” and “Simon Says” by Monche. The crowd song along to the idea that I-tunes ratings are more racist that Reagan or whatever he says. I have never been so energetically angry at I-tunes. And I have no idea what that lyric is about.

Anyway Columbus was aware of Wale despite the oppressive nature of I-tunes. The crowd continued to dance and have fun. Afterwords, we dipped back to the Milk Bar.
