It’s Still Bigger than Hip Hop. Dead Prez is playing Columbus with Copywrite and the 3rd on this bill with a few others.
While “It’s Bigger than Hip Hop” is the hit. Really, I’m using this show to show my favorite video in the history of rap, “Hell Yeah”. I posted it above. While you might not like the fact that its white people being robbed, you need to get past that and just enjoy the fact that it’s people being robbed. Why get defensive about race?
Look how much fun Dead Prez is having robbing tourists, pizza men, stores and their jobs. Look how attractive Dead Prez are when robbing white people, pizza men, stores and their jobs.
This video is especially awesome because it shows vegans aren’t pussies. And also has a Rick Ross cameo near the end.(hint he is wearing a mask)
But yeah, Dead Prez, the one group that figured out that revolutionaries are supposed to look cool are performing in Columbus.
Anyway, Dead Prez, Copywrite and the 3rd + more at Skullys October 22nd.
Check the facebook for more info.

Wale is returning to Columbus tonight. Last time Wale was in town, I enjoyed myself so immensely that I rambled about it on here with this show review which will prolly alienate any new female readers who were under the misconception that I am a decent human because of DW’s Tucker Maxx coverage. This show should be even more funner because Wale is being backed by a Go-Go band.
(DMV natives —>Meta4ce, DCKareem stand-up)
Tonight’s extravaganza is at the Garage Bar which I am told is in the Arena District(you know that weird area that looks like the future in a really mundane, unimagnitive sci-fi movie.. A few pre-sales are still available at Milkbar & the internet somewhere( 10 dollars)
Tickets are 12 at the door. The show’s promoter Schoolboy said the set times look like this:
dj inform 9-11
poitier pockets 11:15
the 3rd 11:30
tanya morgan and big sean 12
ucb will probably jam with wale for about an hr
inform will close it out, or any other good dj who wants to jump on the decks and has a laptop with them

The above video is for New York, New York by the Dogg Pound Gangstaz. THis video used to make me so mad. It was filmed during the height of the East Coast West Coast conflict. Basically Deathow DPG comes through NYC and crushes. At the time, I was like….how dare these permed out West Coast cats comes thru and knock our buildings down?
Someone in New York shot at DPGz during the video shoot.
Mobb Deep, CNN, & Tragedy dropped a white label L.A.L.A.// which I copped immeadetly.
The irony of these records is that the Crip. lo-lo dropping DPGz made a lyrical diss record, and the New York Muslim cats made a thug record.
Even dumber that some of us in Ohio were bothered by West Coast rappers telling New Yorkers to get off their high-horse.
DPG will be at Skullys tomorrow.
800 people paid 12-20 dollars to see Diplo in Columbus,Ohio.
For good reason. He invented anything that matters currently in the world of dancing. I mean…do I need to point out how before Diplo it was either James Brown or staying home because nerds wanted to play drum n bass?
I mean he made all of us ex-backpackers or hardcore kids into club goers kinda.
Anyway, after the jump I will recap the show.
Pictures by Danielle Kline may vary due the fact that she took 423 of them. But they are all better then the ones I took on my cellphone camera

Schoolboy posted the settimes for Diplo:
9-10 dave espionage
I have been an avid fan of you for many years now. I too like manatee’s. The Columbus Zoo has a really nice manatee exhibit.
I suggest you have Schoolboy take you there in Skully’s PT Cruiser before the show.
But, as you may guessed, I am not writing you to discuss zoology.
I am writing to request that you play “Santana’s Town” by the Harlem Diplomats or “I Used to Get it in Ohio” by Killer Camron Giles.
By no means am I unfamilar with your oeuvre.
I consider you to be an intuitive socialogist that operates well above what many call hipster because you are constantly honing in on the fun within organic cultures and streamling them in a manner that makes sense and doesn’t seem forced.
