MP3: DJ Detox & DJ Johnny Cashola-Get Your Mind RIght Vol. 1
Get Right Columbus is now also going to be a monthly in Brooklyn starting July 31st. Say Word?
The folks at the Knitting Factory carefully stumbled upon Get Right Columbus success. And they dealt with mathematics. And what does that add up to?
Every last Saturday, every month starting in July, DJ Detox, and Johnny Cashola will be bringing the same club bangers to the Planet aka Brooklyn is the borough.
Can’t make the commute to Get the Empire State of Mind Right? Disnae worry…Get Right will still be monthly in the C-O.
So the Cav’s might have let us down Ohio…But The Black Keys are about to put Ohio on their back. First up.. the May 27 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine(Keith Richard cover).
Turn to page 48 and oops… a feature about the Akron duo. Let’s file this on some shit you don’t talk-about until it’s time type article. The article dives into Pat’s divorce, and how the turmoil strengthened Dan and Pat’s relationship. The article quotes donewaiting/bsa brother Michael Carney on the matter.
But this isn’t a sad story. It’s a 11:55 right before the band gears up to see how far they can take this Rock N Roll shit. And they got they mind right. Back in my day the kids woulda called it either bossed up or swag surfin.
Love the article. It conveys Pat’s sense of humor and mindset pretty well. And it has them clowning boring ass Band of Horses.
Issue on stands now. New Album drops Tuesday which same issue gives a glowing review,
Dream all you like but you best not sleep.

Seems like everyday there is a new monthy lifestyle magazine popping up in Columbus.
Joining C- ,upstart 614 and CMH Magazines (aka the future home invasion journal) in the quest for documenting the bourgieous bohemian lifestyle is CSBYS’ new alt monthly newspaper.(humor)
Columbus Sucks Because You Suck has existed for a few years as a monthly calender to spread awareness of events at DIY spaces in Columbus. So a newspaper about Columbus culture is a natural progression.
Some highlights of the first issue are
- a critique of Screaming Females’ attempt as using DIY networks to seem edgy from a first hand account.
-an utlra-talk poem about Weedsteelers getting kicked out of a Vice Magazine party
-How to Name Your Punk House
-A review of the police shooting on 17th
-an interview with Aaron Hibbs
Find the inaguaral issue at the DIY spaces you frequent or on Jimi Payne’s blog, Banalization.
As mentioned before, Daymon Day will be returning to Tuttle Park 9-19-09. For more info on Daymon Day, and its parade, please read 614 Magazine’s article on the event. 614 interviewed Envelope, Daymon’s mom Judy and myself for the article.
As for the Basketball portion of the event, CJ Townsend organized a basketblog tourney, in which Team Donewaiting (DJ True Skills, Aleks Shaulov,Andrew Patton, and myself) will compete with Weedsteeler, Agit Reader, Milk Bar, Embassy, Kings Rowe,Central City Recordings, and The Grip for a warm case of PBR.
The bball tourney will be from 12 to 5 at Tuttle Park, Saturday 9-19. The Daymon Day Parade is scheduled to start at Tuttle Park @ 8pm.
(the grudge match right now is between Weedsteeler and the Grip. Or perhaps Weedsteeler and itself)

There is a new monthly publication available at The Wexner Center, Milk Bar, & Ladybird that was conceived and created by Big Marty and Shawn aka dem Weedsteeler boys aka the same people who brought you Vomitrocity, divisive internet behaviour, Hipsters & YP’s liking Gucci Mane & Dipset, influential flyer design, and I got most of my friends real jobs.

Columbus Power-Violence revivalists, Weedsteeler, once again became the most vocal proponent in the “Punks Should Ride Skateboards Not Bikes” movement with the above declaration. While I applaud the sense of design, culture, history and spelling–fact is gas prices are at 4 nearly dollars a gallon –So I am not sure if Weedsteeler will win this arguement.
But regardless these stickers are funny and available at Embassy Boardshop.
In related Columbus Skateboard hate-mongering; Iglu has a new myspace. The skategang put a bunch of video clips in their blog, like this one:
