You take money out of the pockets of musicians every time you download a song. Want proof? Here you go: indie rock whiz kid Ben Kweller is resorting to selling one of his prized guitars, a 1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom, on ebay just so he has enough money to make rent. In his description of the guitar, Kweller says that it “looks really cool.” So far bidding is up to $560, not nearly enough to cover the Kweller’s inflated NYC rent. C’mon people, if you downloaded Kweller’s last album, you owe it to him to bid on the guitar. (Auction ends August 4) Interestingly, if you check out Bennysbaseball‘s profile (Bennybaseball, presumably Ben Kweller’s ebay screen name), you’ll find that Mr.Kweller is investing heavily in baseball cards from the ’80s. Seems to me that if the music career doesn’t pan out, he’ll be able to turn around and sell his cards for a profit.
Look what you file sharers are making musicians do!
